Does Trump remind anyone else of Captain Queeg?

Asked by stanleybmanly (24153points) March 6th, 2017 from iPhone

Someone else is ALWAYS at fault, disloyal, incompetent, etc. The world is just one big perpetual conspiracy against him

I suppose in a way. It’s not a direct correlation, but I can see how you would draw the comparison.

I wonder if Trump walks around holdings three silver balls and plays with his balls when he’s nervous.

The wiretapping charge is actually quite serious. It will take as long as Watergate to unravel, but transcripts of entire private conversations were leaked . There is no question that wiretapping occurred. The question is how and who. We DO know that the Federal Government under the Obama administration was involved. Even the New York Times has been reporting wiretapped information about Trump and Biden and they made n o bones that the information was wiretapped

I have heard several news commentators make that exact comparison.

No. Captain Queeg didn’t really begin to shine until he got those steel balls in his hand. I liken Trump to W. C. Fields

Not here but offers up a perfect analogy of when Harry Reid realizes his best laid plans to help elect Hillary sank the very ship he was sailing on.

elbanditoroso's avatar

@Cruiser – huh? What’s the parallel with Harry Reid? That’s a bit obscure for me to understand.

Cruiser's avatar

@elbanditoroso I can understand how a reference to Harry Reid may not connect with a Liberal Democrat. Harry Reid during the 2012 election campaign famously lied about Romney not paying taxes that pretty much put a fork in his election bid. Fast Forward to 2016 Reid once again made up really ridiculous BS about Trump being in a room full of prostitutes while in Russia and the Ms Universe contest among many other desperate attempts to derail Trump. At least voters were now on to his ruses and why I said what I said.

elbanditoroso's avatar

@Cruiser – to be accurate, Romney’s comment about 47% of Americans don’t pay taxes did much more damage to him than Reid.

But you can rewrite history any way you want.

Cruiser's avatar

@elbanditoroso Big difference between your reasoning there. Romney was factual and Reid was not. Here is a quote from WaPo for ya… “1) About 46.4 percent of U.S. households didn’t pay federal income taxes in 2011. Mitt Romney’s right about that.”

No, because I remember how that movie ended. Queeg at his worst was still a better man than Trump.

I have zero clue as to who Capn Queeg is, so i’m just going to say no, he reminds me of an orangutang who got dressed in the dark during a particularly violent storm.

kritiper's avatar

@ucme Next time you get a chance, watch or read “The Caine Mutiny.”

At least Queeg reached a point (in his trial) when he REALIZED he was sounding like a mad man.

But @stanleybmanly isn’t that the mindset of all Republican/Conservatives, never, never admit you’re wrong no matter what.
And it is always someone else fault.

Cruiser's avatar

@SQUEEKY2 As a staunch conservative I have never ever blamed anyone for my place in life and have taken full ownership of my success, failure or not getting it right. I do think you meant to say “liberal”. I forgive you for your grave error.

kritiper's avatar

@Cruiser I think @SQUEEKY2 got it right.

@kritiper Pleas elucidate your justification for your last comment.
