Would you kiss a strangers pet?

Asked by Ltryptophan (12091points) March 7th, 2017

I think that is way too much of a liberty to take. Even if the animal is super docile.

Yes, if the animal looks friendly and the owner seems OK with it.

I usually talk to people and the dog a little bit and let the dog sniff me and lick me. You can usually tell if it’s OK. I’m not squeamish about picking up a disease from a healthy looking dog. I would think that the owner would probably warn me if there was a problem.

I’ve kissed a lot of dogs and cats in my life. I’ve never been bitten or contracted anything so far.

I kiss strange horse lips all the time. We have 2 new boarders here “Guinness” and “Desi”.
The first thing I did while getting them acclimated was to offer some sweet feed and then some nice neck rubs and kisses. Nothing like pouty, velvety horse lips.
Otherwise, no, I especially do not kiss dogs, dog breath is gross. haha
I only kiss kitties, birds beaks and horse lips.

On a stranger’s dog? No. I wouldn’t even kiss my own dogs lips.
I’d kiss a clean dog on the head.
I think it’d be creepy to kiss a stranger’s dog on the lips.. Not sure why.

Why would I kiss any dog?

One of our neighbour’s is always kissing our dog. We both find it a bit odd/funny.

@Dixon Do you mean “ewe”?

Of course, one man’s sheep is another man’s girlfriend.

I sometimes kiss the foreheads or the tops of the the heads of the kids at work, but these are kids I work with every day for 3 years of their lives.
Dogs don’t want to be hugged or kissed. They will lick your face and mouth, but this is a habit most owners train their dogs to NOT do, so you simply don’t encourage it when you are visiting. Do not undo the dog’s training. The first kissing of an animal that came to mind was a horse. A horse has to trust you a great deal and you can’t just walk up to a horse you don’t have a relationship with and kiss their nose, but I know that cows and horses that know and like you will bring their noses to you for a smooch. I’m major jelly of @Coloma that she gets to have close personal relationships with so many animals. :)

My one and only serious dog bite was from a strange dog I tried to cuddle with when I was about 11 years old.

No. I have nothing against kissing my dog on the top of her head, and she’ll occasionally sneak in a lick to my cheek — but someone else’s pet is crossing a line.

chyna's avatar

No it would make my dog jealous. And she would know. She always knows when I’ve cheated on her and petted another dog.

Sneki95's avatar

I don’t even kiss humans, much less animals.

It depends. Will there be tongue?

ANef_is_Enuf's avatar

I don’t even kiss my own pets. Like on the face? I love my pets and trust them completely, but I don’t like to stick my face up in an animal’s face, that sounds like a good way to get a dog bite.

@cazzie Blowing gently in a horses nostrils is a greeting. First you blow, then you kiss. lol

I kissed my neighbor’s cat on the top of the head. :P
