Would you want to live in this house?
For sale, 15 million.
I wouldn’t. Not even if I could afford it. Why do so many people with money get such gigantic houses? My own cousin, who won that 90 million, is almost done building a similarly gigantic house, and it’s just her and her husband. It’s on a lake, it’s very pretty, but there are houses within a few yards on either side of her.
I’d rather have a spacious cottage in the woods, maybe 20 acres, and spend money on the the outdoors. Make waterfalls with caves behind them for the kids to explore. Install streams to fish in, or just walk beside. Hiking trails and a swimming pool that looks like a big pond with rocks and out cropping. Transparent pool walls that are actually giant fish tanks, with fish in them.
What would your dream house be?

Nah…too big. I already have a nice house and do not plan on moving ever again….maybe when I retire.
No, I’m much more interested in microappartments, like this one.
We currently have no immediate plans to downsize, so no.
What a horribly gaudy and tasteless interior.
Wow, a room FULL of exercise equipment that no one uses.
It’s more like a hotel than a house. I could live there for a month or two but it would never be home.
No microapartment for me, either! Want room for KIDS and family.
Not even a little.
I want my grandma’s old house. Four bedrooms, two bathrooms, big kitchen and pantry, two living rooms and a formal dining room, good size garage, and ten acres of land. Pool in the back.
Plain old single family home is all I’ll probably ever want or need. Ours is 45 years old, needs a little TLC and yard work, cozy and homey. Would not want it any other way.
Such an expensive house, and yet such comically low ceilings that are out of proportion with the dimensions of the rooms.
It’s a hideous house. A typical McMansion. Absolutely ghastly. A gauche, oversized, poorly proportioned mess.
I pity the rich idiots that buy houses like that.
I don’t like it, but not everyone has my taste. We each get to decide what we want.
For less cost I could have one designed, built, and furnished which would better suit me.
A house that big around here would probably be $60 million. lol
No, that’s a bit big for me. I’m not opposed to living in a large house (I grew up in a 7,000 sq. ft. home), but it would have to be one that wasn’t so big that I had to hire “help” to take care of it. Additionally, I would rather have a large family or live with a big group of people in a house like that. Otherwise it’d probably feel a bit empty and lonely.
I actually disagree with Kropotkin and think this house is fairly nice for its excessive size. From the front it does’t look like it’s 24,000 sq. ft. As far as large homes go, I’d rather live in one with a lot of stone and a “rustic” feel than some stucco monster with 20 roof peaks and a bunch of ugly columns and arches. It’s not bad as far as mansions go, it’s just too big for me.
I’d agree with @DominicY
it could be a fun, nice place with a bunch of roomies, a commune sort of scene but, for just me, hell no. I could see a 15 mil. ranch property though. Give me dozens of acres and a really cool house, forget the workout room, I’ll go with an indoor spa and Koi pond in the atrium and wine cellar and stables please.
I hate big houses, so this is not for me. I gravitate towards small, classic, charming homes. Ideally with a beautiful porch, antique woodwork, sunny kitchen and a garden. I don’t really understand the appeal of having so much house, though I’ve found in in the minority in that thinking (what’s new?)
No, I like some of it, like the outdoor patio, and the spa, but the movie theater, and workout room, stylist center and all that other stuff would be a huge waste for me. I prefer my space to be on the outside, acres of land between me and my neighbors. Some woods and meadow and trails.
I don’t know why some people with the money go so big. Speaking of, I talked with my cousin. Their house should be done in a month or two, and we’ll be heading up for a much needed reunion. Dang, I’ve met so much family via Facebook that I didn’t even know I had. Can’t wait!
She has some neat, neat features. There are wooden beams in one part of the house that came from trees on her father’s land! He has several acres he picked up cheap, back in the late 60’s. Built the house himself, and it’s all worth a freaking fortune now. It’s Bill Gates area.
There will be lots of other features in there that celebrate our Dutch heritage. For some reason, this family traces back through maternal lines. It’s refreshing.
