Do you get an error message when you try to change your avatar?
I get this no matter what I try to upload.
Do you?

How many pictures do you have uploaded? You can only have 4. You have to delete one before uploading a new one. Can you try this and report back?
I know that @Stinley! I’ll delete the rest and see what happens.
You’re trying to upload from a desktop and not a smart phone, right?
Yes. Let me try a different picture, one I know works. Or has.
Well, it must have been the picture I was trying to use.
I suspect a possibly transient server issue.
I now see you with two different avatars and even though I posted an answer here, I still see an option to follow your question. I had manually select the follow option instead of automatically getting the unfollow option after I posted my reply.
Edit: now your avatars have become uniform.
Huh. Damn transient servers. Next thing you know they’ll be wanting to use the bathroom too.
I just posted my first answer in another thread, and I got the “Stop Following” option, so perhaps you encountered a temporary server hiccup.
My guess is that now you’ll be able to change your avatar to any other avatar that meets the regular requirements.
Nope. It has to be that particular picture. It’s the wrong size or something.
Is the image either jpg, gif, or png, and under 2MB?
It’s JPG. When it’s too big it specifically tells me that.
Why would I want to change my avatar? It’s a perfect avatar.
It’s the Flux Capacitor Dutch!
Ha! Go here, to O’Riley’s home page. search for part 121g.
Too bad it was listed as unavailable for purchase…
