What is your opinion on this and reasons?

I have not seen either of these movies.
The genre just does not interest me one iota.
Didn’t see “Whiplash” because I felt it would disturb me but from all reports, I imagine it is a better film than “La La Land” whivh I found lame and pretty insipid.
They don’t really stand to comparison. Apples and oranges.
La La Land is a musical fantasy about dreams. Whiplash is about subjecting oneself to torture to succeed, and is not a fantasy.
Sure, there is “making it as a jazz musician” at the core. But then again apples and oranges are both round fruit.
@zenvelo Yeah – I wondered why they were being compared as well.
Jazz based films? Try Miles Ahead.
They are very different films though by the same director. I liked them both but preferred Whiplash.
Judgjng one movie better than another is a subjective exercise I avoid indulging in. That said, while I enjoyed La La Land very much, I was not especially moved by it emotionally. But Whiplash touched me deeply.
Whiplash I’ve seen several times and would happily see it again: once was enough for La La.
They gotta be metaphors for Fluther right…no?
@filmfann I saw the premier of Miles Ahead with Don Cheadle at a Q&A after.
We have a music in film festival in my city every year.
