How many trickster characters do you know?

Asked by wundayatta (58741points) August 8th, 2008

Trickster characters appear in my folkloric traditions. Coyote is a good one for native Americans. Anansi, the spider god, is the trickster for many African traditions. We even find Brer Rabbit as the trickster in US history. The trickster always finds a way to mess things up. He’s the one causing the problems in that saying: “the best laid plans of mice and men….”

I’m looking for others I don’t know or haven’t thought of. If you know of one, could you tell me, please? And maybe give a one sentence description? Thanks.

Trickster characters are character who doesn’t follow normal behavior rules. I can’t think of any off the top of my head, but I know there are a ton. Oh.. Brer Rabbit and Anansi the spider.
