Will you describe your island?

Asked by Patty_Melt (17519points) April 6th, 2017

To set the scene, an island has just been discovered. It isn’t big, but it is more than a speck.
Rather than fight over ownership, the world leaders have decided to have a lottery for private ownership.
Everyone gets one free entry.
You win.
It turns out this island is in the ideal location for you.
Describe the island, where it is located, the weather.
Would you leave it to nature, make it a tourist destination, or like a welcome center?
Have fun, go wild. It’s your island.
Money is no issue.

Nice to see you haven’t lost your sense of the macabre.

Off the coast of Maine, a big Shingle Style house on a low cliff overlooking the small beach. A guest cottage and lush English style cottage gardens (that the gardener takes care of.) A flagstone deck with Adirondack chairs, a table a fire pit and a barbecue. Walking trails through the woods. A drawbridge connected to the mainland that can be raised and lowered. My painting studio is on the grounds with North facing windows and my writing room is in one of the bedrooms of the main house overlooking the ocean.

The island is in the middle of Bermuda Triange. It is surrounded by high, sharp cliffs, treacherous water full of aggressive sharks, extremely strong wave, and unpredictable harsh weather. The magnetic force around the sea is strong enough to pull down any airborne transportation. Big maelstorm are also spotted arond spotted around the island. On the island itself, there are extremely poisonous plants grow and surrounding the island, so toxic that a single drop of their sap can kill a thousand human. In the middle of the island, however, one can find the real Eden on earth. Fertile soil with lush greenery as far as you can see, waterfall with pristine clear water where its water gather in a large sparkling lake full of naturally-filtered ready-to-drink nutritious water. The weather here is miraculously warm, cool, and comforting. A few cottages can be found here too, full of people that called themselves the mystic clan, the ones that are rumoured to be able to converse with the dead, weave curses, concoct panacea, and even foreseen the future. One can only dream what live is like for inhabitants of this isolated island.

I was going to describe mine, but I’m just going to move into @janbb‘s guest cottage — as her description is pretty much right up my alley.

@cookieman Roll on over anytime, big boy. You’re one guest that would always be welcome!

My island would be like some nasty island you see on survival shows, beautiful sandy beach, but lot’s of trees and wildlife too.
It would be located somewhere warm, but isolated from society.
I would bring supplies to the island and build a pretty advanced shelter up high and Strong enough to weather storms.
I’d have to set up solar panels, batteries, generators etc. to power my refrigerator, TV and satellite receiver and microwave oven.
I would return to the mainland occasionally to get stocked up on supplies and food where I I’d meet a beautiful woman who was grocery shopping as well.
She has this island girl/hippy chick kinda look to her she’s tanned and she speaks english and she’s a free spirit and independent and honest and has a heart of gold.
We strike up a conversation after we lock eyes because we both grabbed for the same piece of fruit while shopping.
She wants to visit my island so we go and while on the island a large storm hits and we have stay together for the night, holding each other for body heat and then she stays and we live happily ever after.
The End

It would be a river island, preferably on Tisa.

The weather would be a nice summer breeze. The sun is bright, but not too hot. The water is clear and warm, with a lot of fish swimming around. A big white moon shines every night.

I’d be swimming in the river, listen to the birds and enjoy the early sun. My food would be the fish. Fish soup every day, straw hat all the way lol! I’d make sure to get one of them fisherman straw hats. I couldn’t survive in the paradise without that.
That’s how I’d spend my mornings.

At the very shore stands an old, giant willow, spreading its long branches all the way down to the water. I sit below the willow in my swing and listen to the old damme singing with the wind, until I fall into a calm, long dream.
That’s how I’d spend my afternoons.

When the evening comes, crickets would start their quiet, rhythmic song, and the choir of frogs would join in. The night wind cradles me in my swing, a big moon illuminates the water and the reed rumors. I’m the only one in this universe listening to this divine orchestra.
That’s how I’d spend my nights.

A few metres away from the shore, the thick forest starts. My house would be in the trees, and I’d sleep inside only in winters and if it rains. I’d hide a small garden somewhere in there too.
In the winter, the whole island would be surrounded with a thick mist. No one would get close. Everything would be dead quiet. I’d be sitting in my small tree house, eating boiled corn with salt, and watching the cold water.
That’s how I’d spend my winters.

It would be like in another universe. No one would ever come, and no one would know I live there.

Wowwwwwwww. There are some beautiful images here, everyone except loli, who is currently busy chasing her/his own tail.

Not terribly original, but mine would be Skull Island. That’s right, a mountain shaped like a huge skull surrounded by a crazy jungle. Pirates come here to have parties, divvy booty, grab booty, and get drunk. Yo ho ho motherfuckers!

My island would have a white sandy beach surrounded by blue/green water. On the island would be dozens of fruit trees: banana, mango, avocado, coconut, lemon and lime. It would be ten miles from a town of about ten thousand people with lots of restaurants and a movie theater. It would have a helipad to deliver overnight guests. There would be a gorgeous waterfall with a pond as shown in the Brooke Shield’s movie the name of which escapes me and a permanent, small pond of delicious fresh water. It would be unusual to see an insect but there would be flowers and trees in all directions. A small yacht would come with the island to ride into town to buy food and just to enjoy the sights and sounds of being around people. The house would be a two story with an indoor elevator and plenty of glass. And the island would enjoy at least three seasons without snow. I’d have an unlisted number to keep those pesky telemarketers at bay-for awhile.
