What's a stereotype about your country that you think is funny?
Something trite every other country thinks about yours, but which is not true. Something you find funny. What is it and why does it amuse you?
Such as, all Canadians like hockey, all Brits know how to ride horses, all Japanese know computers, all Americans have a hunting license and all Mexicans are born again Christians.
Ethnicity works too, for things attributed ro a race rather than a country. Wind starts blowing in their hair whenever a Native American speaks, or all Roma are fortune tellers. Stuff like that.
Well I kind of made some of those up, but you get the idea. The idea here is to laugh a little, not get offended or fight. Shoot.

Problem is, I don’t really know what stereotypes other countries have about the USA. Perhaps equating all Americans with “rednecks,” might be one….and again. Being from the Midwest people around me, including Rick and me, are pretty creative when it comes to using what you have to “invent.”
That we all wear bowler hats, love the royal family &...this is the real funny part, that we have butler’s & maids & whatnot, I mean, can you imagine :D
Also…“all Brits know how to ride horses” so not me then :(

It is funny, because it is true.
That we westerners still ride horses, wear 6-shooters, travel from place to place in stage coaches on dirt roads, and wear cowboy hats.
I wish I knew what the stereo types are for American! Mean, I can see that cowboy idea from the 50’s and 60’s @kritiper, especially with John Wayne being so prominent, but I don’t think that’s true any more, is it?

That all Americans have guns, and that we carry them around. I never carry mine around. It stays right by my recliner.

Because 50 years ago cowboy westerns were ALL the rage! All the rage. We kids still played cowboys and Indians. The adults spent scads of money on going to the movies to see John Wayne.
Comparatively, Westerns are just almost obsolete.
Maybe you should ask some of those Southern Baptists. As I understand it, the Southeast is FULL of them!
Well, we have our throw back redneck conservatives and their guns. Lots of people around hear wear boots and hats too, but they’re just a faction, a specific cultural statement, like the hippies or something, not mainstream.
Every country is better than my country one way or another.
I used to believe it, the I saw other countries compare their own countries to mine.
