Do you think Trump is desperate for approval, and becoming more desperate as he's moving further and further from it?

Asked by Dutchess_III (47071points) April 9th, 2017

Almost everything he does, I think he does trying to get people’s approval. When he hit us with the refugee ban, I really thought he thought he would be hailed in the streets. I think it was shocking to him that not only did he disgust the majority, but the law slapped him down too.

He thinks he’s a demi-God to be worshiped. He’s no longer protected by a small cocoon of worshipers, and is hanging out to dry in public, and I think it’s shaking him to the core that everything he’s doing is backfiring badly and that he’s being made fun of everywhere he looks.

I often hear him say, “Do you like this?” referring to whatever, like Joe Blow’s opinion is important to him.

How much longer can he stand the unprecedented assault on his ego?

I asked Trump if he would be attending the White House Correspondents Dinner.
He said: “No. Do you like that?”
People cheered behind me.

His whole modus operandi is to get approval from the Manhattan powers that be.

Trump will always be the cheap developer from Queens. And he will never be accepted by what is left of The 400.

I do think he’s an egomaniac.

I also think plenty of people think he has done everything right, or tried to, but was blocked by the opposition. Democrats keep talking about his approval ratings being low, and where he is screwing up, but a whole bunch of people still love him, and I think that’s who he pays attention to.

Oh, he hears the other, @JLeslie, and desperately tries to rebut them.

^^Well, that’s true. Still, I think he is trying to tell us, the audience, why the “other” is wrong. I think in his head he is still right.

Trump is a soulless con artist. He has no core values, no internal compass. There is no there there. He is totally dependent on the opinion of others, even as he keeps stabbing them in the back.

” He is totally dependent on the opinion of others,...” Do you guys think that is a trait that was beaten into him as a child?
