I’ll add my two cents. If they are all teenagers, then before you know it everyone will probably be out of the house soon and it will be harder and harder to get everyone together at the same time, so I’d say give them the gift of you all spending time together. You could give them “A Year of Family Fun”. Put together a package with things you can do together, maybe one activity for each month and set aside time at least once a month to do the activity together. Here’s a more detailed list of what I mean:
1) Family Movie Night – Either buy a copy of a movie that you all loved as kids to watch together or get a gift card for a movie rental place, buy some popcorn, candy, etc (whatever snack foods each family member likes)
2) Family Game Night – Buy a board game that you can all play (Apples to Apples is good, if you are interested and want more suggestions, just let me know)
3) Get everyone a water gun or a bunch of water balloons. Who doesn’t love water fights. (May I also suggest buying everyone their own bottle of bubbles, some how bubbles just bring out the kid in most of us)
4) Buy tickets to an amusement park.
5) Have a family picture taken, nothing fancy, it can be done at a Sears or Target. Seriously, they may cringe, but they’ll thank you later. (Also, you may want to keep a camera handy during all the other ‘fun’ things you have planned)
6) Pack a picnic and take everyone on a picnic, don’t forget to bring some frisbees (and if there weather is right, pick up a few cheapy kites)
7) Take everyone bowling, skating, lazer tag, whatever you think everyone would enjoy.
8) Plan a good old fashion cookout and/or have a bonfire if possible.
9) Buy some sporting equipment everyone can use (volleyball, bocce ball set, horseshoes)
10) If you have snow there, one activity could be sledding this winter (make sure to remember the hot cocoa).
11) A fish tank (yeah, I know that is a bit unusual, but if you don’t have one, they can be very enjoyable)
12) Take them all to a minor league sporting event (It’s not as pricing as major league sporting events)
