I’m only curious, cause I just got into this journaling thing about two months ago (I started in February if I recall right). I still keep my blog, I’m just need to update it. I just read off what I wrote in the week to a recorder and post it as audio blog post.
But if you do journal, what do you write about? What inspired you to journal? Are you creative in your journal or just simple? Do you add photos or stickers?
I would love to add photos in my journal but I have to wait til I get my Polaroid camera :)

I’m a storyteller. Everyday events- Some of them are too nutty to be able to make up.
Kind of – I blog. Since basically nobody reads my blog, it’s essentially a journal. I pour out my thoughts stream-of-consciousness style and don’t worry much about my writing. It’s good for me.
I first began writing a journal back in 1965. I used to write in fountain pen but now use a computer. My diaries are a very simple account of what I do each day with the addition of some personal comments. I tried adding photos to my journal at one time but it crashed so I no longer bother.
I had been writing a journal for a while during primary school. It was a task from the English class.
Often times I want to write a diary, but when I sit down to write, I’ve no idea what or how to write it. I have a blog too, but nothing’s written on it. I just block when I’m supposed to write.
Besides you have to do that every day. I’m way too lazy for it.
Oh, yes. I have since I was old enough to write. I have paper journals going back to the 60’s, I have hundreds of Word documents, thousands of pictures, thousands of stories.
I have kept a journal of the tarot spreads I have done for myself since 2008. It began in a notebook, and now I do it in an note-taking app.
Tarot cards are illustrated decks of cards used for divination. They are laid out in a configuration called a spread. The different positions in the spread represent different things. There are infinite ways to lay them out in a spread, and their interactions with the surrounding cards hold infinite meanings.
The first link is to the most popular deck. The second link is to the most popular spread.
Has your spread changed over the years?
Kinda, but really mine is a fire diary where I mark the sackings of housestaff with pink ticks & smiley faces.
Not currently, no. I used to keep several when I was in middle and high school.
@Dutchess_III There are many different types of decks. I used to use about 4 different ones, and I would select the deck based on the subject matter of the question I was pondering. I almost always used the spread I linked.
Some years ago, I started to use the Thoth deck exclusively. The man who designed the deck also designed a spread for it, so I use that spread. It uses 15 cards instead of the 10 used in the linked spread.
I just wondered if things had changed for you ever the years @Hawaii_Jake. But I guess you’d have to use one type of deck exclusively in order to determine that.
@Hawaii_Jake wow, a tarot spread. This is a first of me hearing of it. How interesting :)
@AshlynM I had a diary when I was younger but stopped writing in it after my mom found it. I honestly feared writing my personal thoughts on paper after that. But once I hit high school wayy back I started a blog. It helped me vent
@ucme your response makes me want to get hold of some smiley faced stickers now :)
@flutherother i do the same thing with my blog, just talk about my day since I have a bad memory
@snowberry cool, I love reading new stories from people :)
@Sneki95 I understand, I get lazy too sometimes.
@Dutchess_III wow, thats a lot! You must have a lot of different types of journals. Made from different fabrics or leathers and pages :)
I have a couple of diary books I started in the 80’s, and one from the 70’s. Beginning in the 90’s my journals are electronic, saved to the computer, backed up by Carbonite and I have several stories down loaded to CD’s.
Yes, feeling lonely and stressed inspired me to start a journal .I keep it simple and I add photos
