Is a regular sized, solid stick deodrant allowed in a carry-on bag on airplanes?

Asked by Hawaii_Jake (37748points) April 21st, 2017

I’m not asking about any kind of liquid (roll-on) or spray deodorant.

Solid stick. Normal size, which is about 2.5 oz. Like this

Will the TSA allow it?

If it’s under 3 oz. it will be fine. Put it in a plastic quart size bag with other toiletries and take it out going through security to be sure.

Psst – deodorant.

Thank you. I spelled it correctly in the details. I’ve never complained about this to the powers that be, but when I am creating a question, the title question disappears from the screens and does not reappear until I click “ask Fluther.” Evidently it is a problem.

You can go back and check by clicking on “Previous” before posting, can’t you?

I haven’t tried that.

Solid is solid. They only care about liquids.

I don’t know, @JLeslie. I’ve been told by security to put my lip balm stick in the plastic bag. A deodorant stick isn’t much different.

^^I’ve never been told to put lipsticks or solid deodorants or solid or powder makeup in the “liquids” ziploc. I did once have trouble with toothpaste, but that’s not solid.

I travel with my full size solid deodorant.
