Do you also have this problem with the site?

Asked by Hawaii_Jake (37734points) April 21st, 2017

When I compose a question on Fluther, I first type the title question. After I have entered it, it disappears from all subsequent screens. It is just a blank space. It does not reappear until I hit the final “ask Fluther” button.

That includes the sidebar where you can watch the progress of the question. The title question area is blank.

At home, I use Windows 10, and at work, it’s Windows 7.

Does anyone else have this problem?

I do sometimes. On my android galaxy lite ,and Windows 10 surface pro. I don’t know what causes it to stop working.

I use a Chromebook and an iPad mini, and I haven’t had that happen.

^^Are you allergic to Microsoft products?

Used to have bunches, really liked them, I just kinda got different stuff over the years.

After I’ve typed the question and clicked on “Continue”, not only does it not advance to the next page, I get no response at all.

I got the following response after pressing Enter instead of “Continue”:

{“errors”: {“topics”: ”* This field is required.”, “details”: ”* This field is required.”}}

I’m using Windows XP with Firefox.

I right-clicked on the “Continue” button, and then Page Info > Security, and consequently discovered that I’ve visited Fluther 50,302 times. This inspired me to ask a question about how many times other jellies have visited here, but…oh the irony.

It’s working for me now.

^^Windows XP?! And it’s still running? Impressive.

April 21st, 6:47 p.m. Kansas time. I’ve had this problem since last night. Still having the same problem. I have a very, VERY important question to ask about bacon. Windows 10, using Firefox. Going to try something else.

Dutchess_III's avatar

Nope. Can’t post in Chrome either.

@Mimishu1995

LOL! You doofus- it was a test question, and in your details you said, “Don’t mind me. Mods, you can delete it if you want.”

A partial retraction on the above- perhaps you were surprised at how quickly it was deleted.

Mimishu1995's avatar

@Brian1946 yeah, I was surprised at how fast it went away. It was like a mod had been reading my detail as I was crafting it!

But it proved one thing: I could post a question normally.

Yes, I have a similar issue. I currently am unable to ask a question. I type my question in the question box, and nothing shows up on the right. It won’t let me hit continue, either. I’ve restarted my computer, logged out and back in, refreshed, still won’t work. This has been going on for a couple days now. It doesn’t give me any error message or anything, just won’t let me click.

Works for me. Must be the new subtle way of voting you off the island.

Weirdly, this morning I have been unable to post a new question from my Windows 10 Surface Pro, but just now I was able to do so from my Galaxy S7.

Yes. It started happening a few months ago. But I soon realized that my question title was actually still there and learned to live without it.

[Mod says] We’ll see what we can do. It’s unlikely that this will be considered high priority by our techie people, but it’s good information. Maybe there’s a quick fix. Thanks for the reports!

How interesting. I noticed that the only questions that have been asked lately have been via phone. I have been unable to post a question from my desk top for 3 or 4 days, but just now I was able to ask via my phone. I was even able to go back into it and edit the question from my desk top.

janbb's avatar

I’ve been asking fine from my desktop.

Dutchess_III's avatar

Interesting. What OS do you use @janbb?

janbb's avatar

Chrome on Windows 7

I also have had no trouble on the desktop PC. I use it both at home and at work.

At work, I’m using Windows 7 with an IE browser. Nothing has been updated.

At home, I’m using Windows 10 with a Chrome browser, and everything has been updated.

jca's avatar

I’ve asked from both home computer and work computer recently.

One of the mods suggested this: https://www.fluther.com/iphone/ask/. Basically it sets your desktop to phone mode. Worked fo rme.
