Has the novelty of something that people consider novel ever worn out for you?

I got sick of living in the mountains and it lost its novelty after 10 years. You?

Just about everything I enjoyed in childhood.

@anniereborn Yes I agree. I can’t eat Pop Tarts anymore. I loved them as a child.

@RedDeerGuy1 Oh now, that’s one thing I still enjoy :)

The whole idea of novel is one I have never figured out. When Granny Dresses came out, they were so novel, I had been wearing them all along. I could say the same thing about many so-called fashion novelties (multi colored giant flowers). What I don’t get is what happens to them?
Where are all the Pokemon Go people? When it was first popular, there were dozens of them in our shopping center. According to my son and his wife, there were thousands in the downtown/Old town area. The shops stayed open late and made big bucks for the few weeks it was THE THINGL

Perhaps this counts?

About five months a year is spent with the SO in a small town in England. The rest of the time is spent in the US. This has been going on for about nine years. When in the U.K., many of the people encountered want to share how much they love the US. When asked if they have ever been there, the answer is often, yes, to Disney World or to Las Vegas.

On the flip side, back in the US, friends always assume that we live in London, live on tea and scones and rub elbows with the royal family. That’s gotten old.

What hasn’t is the thrill of taking a walk through the countryside, or taking the train and chuckling at the townships’ names. The history and culture is so vastly different, as is the government, healthcare, architecture, etc. Even ten years later, there is a thrill at every turn.

@Pied_Pfeffer I have one question to ask, have you ever met Paul McCartney? : )

Pied_Pfeffer's avatar

@Kardamom Nah, Sir Paul doesn’t make it up our way. Ironically though, one of the Beatles’ songs mentions the township we live in. And I did see McCartney & Wings perform in Memphis.

@Pied_Pfeffer I got to see him and Linda, twice back in the 90’s at the Forum in L.A. and the Angel’s stadium in Anaheim. Way up in the nosebleed section.

I got to go to London in 1986 and walked across Abbey Road : )
