I have been a tutor for past 9 years and want to go online, is it a good idea?
For past few months, organisations are approaching me for online home tutoring…I have been tutoring for past 9 years, I need suggestions.

Make sure they offer curriculum and training. Do your research to see what reputation they have. Do they really pay their tutors? some of these organizations don’t like to pay their tutors, or give them low pay with never ending promises for more hours and better pay.
Also, what sort of tutoring do you do? I’ve taught ESL in person for 3 years, and over Skype for two. If you’re going to be teaching online, you might be paired with someone in a much different time zone. Find out ahead of time what hours you’d need to keep.
Do you currently work for a tutoring company or do you tutor independently? If you are currently working on your own, you will make much less per hour working for someone else.
One thing to consider is how steady the work is that the company can provide. I work for Tutor dot com. You can select hour long time slots a week in advance, but the slots fill up fairly quickly. Even if you have a time slot reserved, there is no guarantee that students will be available.
As for the tutoring experience, it is certainly more convenient to tutor from your computer, but there is a certain directness that is lost as compared to doing in person tutoring.
If it is possible, try the online tutoring working part-time and see what you think of it.
