What is the outcome of political upheaval in Venezuela was similar to what happened in Roumania in 1989?

If this was the case -where the political opposition is able to completely overwhelm the regime trying to hold onto power, and wipe it out completely -this would have the most far reaching consequences for the Latin American region.

It would send a message throughout the region that mobocracy is sufficient to get rid of an unpopular government, any government, whether it is right wing or far left.

Two countries that must be watching Venezuelan developments very closely are most likely Brazil (recently rightist) and Cuba. We are beginning see signs of a Venezuelan type situation slowly developing in Brazil:

Were they inspired by Venezuelan developments, for completely different ideological motives? Will these become sustained, like Venezuela? Are we beginning to see the development of a “Latin American Spring”?

Venezuela, Eastern Europe or Brazil, take your pick. But you’re missing the point. The uprisings and “mobocracy” are always the result of sustained economic privations. And it pays to remember that NO government is immune when enough people are “doing without”. Ask yourself if Trump could acquire the Presidency if we were in boom times here. Let’s say the state is an elk and the competing ideologies varieties of predatory animals. If the elk is incapacitated, the question of which animal devours it is secondary to the fact that the elk WILL be eaten.
