When it comes to TV-shows, do you prefer an episodic format, an overarching storyline, or a mix thereof?

examples:
– Episodic: Star Trek: The Next Generation.
– Overarching story: Daredevil
– Mix: Star Trek: Deep Space 9

There are productions that are both stand-alone and describe a continuing story. I like those best because I can’t waste time in front of the TV. I can watch these episodes and still understand the backstory. I hardly ever watch episodal productions that can’t give you a complete stand-alone story within the big story. I have no time for binge-watching.

I like reality shows, especially survivor type shows. You know, where the guy spends 3 days out in the desert drinking his own pee to show how macho he is, and eating sick and lame animals strategically placed in his path by the production crew, Then he wanders onto the free way and gets picked up by a hot blonde in a convertible.
