Why are you on Fluther?
I’m not questioning your rights but reason for being here. What is it that makes you come back frequently?

It’s late and I’m bored. And I got tired of the politics and religion on the Purple People Eater.
Right now? I’ve got to read a 35-page document that’s doing my head in. So I’m taking breaks by checking into Fluther.
Overall, I like most of the people here and I have said before, I do see it as a bit of an oasis on the internet where the majority are thoughtful, intelligent people. It’s nice to engage with them.
Now, back to reading.
Thoughtful, intelligent people? He never met me, I can see. I refuse to join any club that would have me as a member.
Perhaps you are the exception that proves the rule @NomoreY_A.
I have a few friends here that I have fun with, and because I refuse to do FB or anything beyond email, this is the only forum in which I can communicate with them. In the meantime, every once in awhile, I answer a question. But that’s about it.
I like the nature of the interactions. I like that I can take my time thinking about the question and how I feel about it before answering. i enjoy reading other people’s opinions. I have to admit that I prefer the opinions of people that I agree with, so that is one of the reasons I like this place – I seem to agree with a lot of people here. Is is all very self referential and ego-stroking? Probably. But where’s the harm in that?
It passes the time on the tube.
I used to enjoy another Q&A site that went south after an ill advised restructuring. A lot of people came over here then. I stayed. I have friends here now.
I am here partly out of habit but mostly because it’s fun, most of the time. I too don’t do FB but did, just recently open a new acct. to follow my daughters european travels this month. That’s it.
I have a need to express myself that just talking to friends and my counselor doesn’t satisfy, for whatever reason. I need to discuss the topics that are on my mind and I have always felt very comfortable doing this with internet strangers. At this point you guys really aren’t strangers anymore, but I’ve been speaking my mind here all along so it feels right at this point.
I guess it started as a desire to talk to strangers, but now that we know each other, I like y’all and wanna keep hanging out and talking.
To kick ass and chew bubble gum, and I am all out of bubble gum.
So instead I am here to crush my enemies, see them driven before me, and hear the lamentation of their women.
Loli, why does reading that make me want to start singing the blues? And I don’t even have any women.
To vent, to be a little snarky and a little rude. I need to swear every now and then but still be somewhat serious.
I like to help people.
I like to support others, especially the underdogs, when they are down.
It’s almost a nine year habit for me.
For answers and to get over being socially isolated. Fluther is my family. Most of my friends are on Fluther. Also to feel useful.
It’s better than writing my ramblings on a bathroom wall…~
^That depends on where the bathroom is and whom it’s shared with.
There is no sensible excuse. I just hope to never be called to account for the time spent here.
I always ask myself this question and I can’t come up with the answer. Sometimes the good feelings I have about this site outweigh the bad… and sometimes they don’t. Apparently, for the time being, I enjoy it here more than not.
There are some great people here.
I learn about things outside my normal circle
I can procrastinate and feel like i am doing something.
I feel like I am giving back and paying it forward.
I stumbled in here by accident and have never been able to find the way out. Maybe I haven’t wanted to find it as I like most of the people here and I am interested in what they have to say.
Why do I stay here? I like that we’re an intimate group (although sometimes I wish there were more questions and responses), and I like that I know many of the people and for the most part, trust what they’re saying.
I also like that because I’m on FB and many Jellies are, Fluther adds another dimension to what I see on FB, and FB adds another dimension to Fluther. If someone talks about their dog on Fluther, I’ll see the dog on FB. If someone on FB discusses something, I’ll see more details on Fluther.
I feel like some Jellies will be lifelong friends even though we may never meet or haven’t met yet.
Is there some secret FB list I’m not privy to?
@ARE_you_kidding_me: There’s a group that’s on FB that’s secret, so if you search for it you won’t find it but if you have a Jelly friend they can add you.
Also, once you’re friends with one or two people, you know FB recommends mutual friends. Before you know it, you’ll have a bunch of Jelly friends.
The fb group was created a long time ago. I believe it started when Ali and PnL were mods, then it grew from there. It’s not very active at all so you aren’t missing much. I left it a few months ago since I was already fb friends with the flutherites I’m friendly with.
@jonsblond is correct – the group is not very active. I don’t usually leave groups unless there is something awful about them. If anything, I may “unfollow” a group. In the case of the FB Fluther group, an advantage of staying in is there may be something that a Jelly I’m not friends with wants to tell everyone, and in that case, I’m going to hear it.
Plus sometimes I post pictures of baked goods that I’ve actually baked : )
and I may post recipes for foods made with cardamom for @Kardamom.
