How to heal my dry itchy feet?

Asked by RedDeerGuy1 (24986points) May 7th, 2017

Or can I go to a salon? What do I ask for and who deals with dry itchy bottoms of feet? I have an battery powered scratcher but it does not help much.

Vaseline. Put it on thick at night, and wear socks to bed.

There are some very old, very good treatments for moisturizing skin. Olive oil is very good for your skin. “Vermont’s Original” bag balm for dry bovine utters is excellent.

Sometimes this is a circulatory problem. Daily walks help.

You could go to a salon to get a good start on getting your feet in shape. You want to ask for a pedicure. I recommend a Pumice stone to use on your feet afterwards. Use it a few times a week when you take your shower. Just skim it over the bottoms of your feet to keep the dry, dead skin off and then use some type of lotion on them daily.

Because of my foot issues, I’m in a constant battle with callouses and such.

One thing I like doing is mixing a bit of salt with just enough olive oil to hold it together, and massage that into the dry spots. The salt is lightly exfoliating, and the oil helps soften the skin.

Then, I’ll add more oil and put on a heavy pair of socks just before bed.

I’ve heard that aloe vera helps. Try that if the vaseline that @Dutchess_III suggests doesn’t work.

Any kind of moisturizer rubbed in at bedtime should help.

You might go to your doctor, and verify your liver is okay.

@Dutchess_III has it exactly right. Apply a liberal coating of moisturizer or any other products recommended above and wear socks for a few nights in a row to keep the stuff soaking in.

I don’t like getting my feet done in public. This is what I do.

I first get a scraper and use it on really callused spots.

Then I soak my feet in apple cider vinegar and warm water for about 20 minutes. I wait till every thing is soft and then I rub my feet to remove any remaining dead skin.
The apple cider vinegar is good for killing any foot bacteria and helps to soften the skin.
Then I dry my feet and let them get dry.
A little while later, I use a foot file to finish smoothing the skin on my feet.
Then I wet my feet once more to wash it off and dab my feet dry. Then I put Vaseline all over and put on socks to wear while I sleep. By morning it is all smooth. But continue the process for a couple of days. If you have itching, change to vicks vapor rub. That will usually kill any itchiness.

I just go barefoot 24/7, when I can. Don’t know if that’s good or bad, but I’ve never suffered from itchy, dry feet.

I got some cream from the pharmacist I’ve used it for one day. Haven’t noticed any change.

Give it a few days. It take that long for the cream to seep into the dry skin.

The cream doesn’t work. Good that it only cost $2
