What are some job recommendations for people who want to live in extreme isolation?
I am looking for job recommendations to be considered for those who want to live in extreme isolation. Ideally, such a job would be willing to provide any training needed on the basis that no one would want to have this job because of it’s extreme isolation. I would not care. A lighthouse keeper is one that comes into mind. I guess “astronomer” could fit the bill, but this does require quite a bit of study and training to do this in a professional capacity.
Here is an article that covers some jobs of this nature:

I would like to see if anyone could expand on this list described in the article.
No need to ask “why”...

There’s more than one kind of isolation. An intelligence operative might be among people all the time, but if you can’t trust anyone or even really associate with anyone, you’re probably going to be more isolated than you would be in a solitary cave in the Himalayas.
Those who really want a hermitic experience don’t have a “job” as much as they practice self-subsistence.
“Forest Ranger” and “lighthousekeeper” are not necessarily isolated careers; it is the circumstances of individual positions within those careers that are isolated.
Programing, philology (studying old texts), archiving, working in the library, astronomy, working with documents and papers, like accounting….
Well, accounting requires quite a bit of interaction with other people. I mean, you gotta be an accountable accountant.
You could be a monk. Not a paying job, other than free room , and board….
Lighthouse keeper (as the OP has suggested)
Gold fossicker and probably other forms of quests for precious stones/metals.
Sheepherder.
@MrGrimm888 Some monks live in communities and are active in society.
Solo yachtsman.
Explorer.
Station Hand on a remote station.
Independent Mars colonist.
@Sneki95 . I was thinking of different monks…
Internet content writer. But you better like a steady diet of beans and rice.
@Sneki95
Indeed. I know of a monastery that’s smack dab in the middle of Chicago.
@Darth_Algar I meant that they live with each other and are included in the local community, not in a metropolis. Quit acting smartass.
Book author, who lives far away from the editor. Pretty much anywhere.
@Sneki95
Do you always berate those who are backing your point up?
Sheep herder in a remote area.
Prison memoirist. State pays the room and board, everything you make is gravy after that.

@Sneki95 working in a library is not a solitary job. Even if there is just you as staff, you still have to deal with the readers.
Nobody liked my sheepherder or gold fossicker suggestions… hrrrmphh!
^^ I do. We just don’t don’t speak Cornwall here
