Why is my C63 AMG limited to 155mph?

Asked by crunchaweezy (1733points) August 10th, 2008

It’s electronically limited, but why? What’s the reason compared to say a Ferrari or a Lamborghini?

Is it because you need to pay a special tax for the ability to go that fast?

gentlemans agreement in Germany.

Due to the auto bahn having no speed limit and therefore people may actually drive it at that speed it was decided 155 mph was fast enough.

Other cars go faster though..

yes, but they’re not made in Germany.

Yeah, but they are exported to the United States..

But your speed limit in the US is what 80 max so they probably don’t see it as too much of a problem.

And, is there any way possible to remove this? Do I have to know someone in the company who designed the electronic limit? lol

I know a bunch of people that get the limiters taken off. You can go to a special dealer, and get them removed. That’s what I did.
