Which concert do you regret not seeing?

Asked by Earthbound_Misfit (13177points) May 18th, 2017

We have had questions about the concerts we did get to see, but what about the ones we missed out on?

A couple that stand out for me are The Who. I tried to get tickets but couldn’t. I really wanted to take my son to see them when they were last in Brisbane. Doubt I’ll get another chance.

Another was Powderfinger. Again, I just couldn’t get tickets and then they announced that was their last concert and broke up! I was so sad.

The third would be Crowded House and I did have tickets to see them, but then a good friend invited us to her wedding on the same day. I really had to weigh up if I could miss the wedding. I decided I couldn’t and sold my tickets.

So which concerts did you try to get tickets for and fail or miss out on for some other reason?

I was offered the chance to see Tom Petty about seven years ago. It was on a week night, I’d be getting home late from the city, it was in July so it would have been an ordeal with the heat, and I had just found out my mom had cancer, so I really wasn’t in the happy concert mood. When I think about the regret of missing the concert, I have to remind myself that I put a lot of thought into the decision not to go.

Elton John. I couldn’t afford the tickets.

Ludovico Einaudi. Like you @chyna I couldn’t afford going to the concert at that time and I was well upset.

There are a lot of concerts I’ve missed just because they sell out so quickly, and now they’re so expensive. I refuse to spend $300 to see a one and a half hour concert. It’s too crazy.

Nine Inch Nails – back in 1995. Arguably in the midst of the band’s peak (around 1992–2000). They were playing in a college town about an hour of so from my. My then brother-in-law was going with some friends and invited me, but I was still a minor at the time and my parents would not let me. In retrospect I don’t blame them and probably would have made the same decision in their place.

Neurosis – 2008. These guys don’t tour regularly (they play basically a few shows a year), so they don’t come around very often. This was one of their rare shows in Chicago. I was all ready and set to go and then on the day of the show…..I wake up so sick I can hardly move around my house, let alone go out into the city for several hours.

I really wanted to go to SNACK Sunday in San Francisco in 1975. Bill Graham put on a benefit concert to raise money for school arts, music, and sports.

Santana, Jefferson Airplane, Doobie Bros, Grateful Dead, Neil Young, a Bob Dylan surprise….

I am so sorry that I never got to see Queen. Freddie Mercury live? That would have been great!

Woodstock. Ancient history now, I know. But I’d have given my left nut to have been there. Sex, drugs, rock ‘n roll.

Can’t really think of any. Have seen most of the greats in my life. The Who, Santana, Led Zeppelin, The Dead, The Stones, many, many amazing artists. Yeah, Woodstock would have been a blast. I was only 10, missed it by a few years.

I recently watched Ron Howard’s documentary “Eight Days a Week” and I would have loved to have been in Jacksonville when the Beatles refused to play for a segregated audience. I’m sure the sound was rubbish but the social impact had to be glorious!
I would also sell my right ovary to have seen Freddy Mercury do anything. I’d happily watch him vacuum his living room
