Suggestions for buying a new car?

I hit a deer 10 days ago, and it now looks like the insurance company will consider the car totaled.
I need a car that is AWD, big enough for a tall person, with comfortable seats, since we drive long distances. We live in a high elevation, so it will need some guts.

As I said to on an earlier new car question, we recently bought a Mazda CX5 GT. My husband is 6.2. It’s very comfortable. Plenty of room in it. We also like to go on road trips, so we wanted a car that could do that sort of driving, but is also good around town. We liked the ability to split the seats in a way that long items can slide through the middle. That will be handy. I really like the safety features too. They were a big plus for me.
I don’t really know anything about engines, but according to the specs it has Engine type 2.5 litre in-line 4 cylinder 16-valve DOHC S-VT petrol engine with i-stop.
My only criticism is the turning circle. That could be because our previous car was a Mazda 3 SP25, so it’s very nippy and responsive and could turn on a sixpence. We still have it because it’s been so reliable. We’re hoping this second Mazda performs as well as that one has.
Have you considered the Land Rover Range Rover?
If that is a little steep, what about the Mazda CX-9 or the Toyota Rav-4.

I really like the Subaru Forester.
It sits high so you have a good view of the road.
it does not have as many of the new electronic bells and whistles that you see on other vehicle.
It has AWD which will help if you are driving in snow.
Ford SHO for AWD, turbocharged for altitude, comfortable ride and extra sound insulation.
Or Ford Fusion Sport for a little bit smaller car.
I met a guy years ago who had purchased a Toyota, or similar. And he had extended seat racks installed so the seat would go back further. For high altitude performance, a turbocharger will get the job done. The best paint for the exterior is polyurethane.
I have a Honda CRV. I like Honda for its reliability and also for the mid-range price. The CRV is good for all types of weather and the space is good for hauling stuff if you need to.
What about surplus military troop transports?
The ones I know and have liked are the Toyota Highlander and the Volvo station wagon. The Volvo is more fun to drive and gets better gas mileage IIRC, but the Toyota is reliable and comfortable and I think has more room (both will fit a large driver). For the Volvo though, have a good Volvo mechanic/specialist to check and maintain it, as there are some things that should be done in certain ways to prevent maintenance issues, that non-Volvo mechanics might not appreciate.
