Does anyone out there have a drive in theater in your area?
I miss the old outdoor drive in movies, guess they have all been replaced by neighborhood dollar theaters. Always had great films, like Sinbad and the Eye of the Tiger, Hercules vs. the Moonmen, great popcorn fare.

Yes—there is still one quite near me— the Summer Twin Drive-In (two screens)—probably been there since about 1960. Its where I first saw Peter Pan, when I was about five. It still has regular shows.
We used to have five drive-ins around Memphis—a few located where it would now be unthinkably dangerous nowadays.
Here sre some problems with drive-ins, however.
It doesn’t get really dark until after 9:00 on a Summer night. Climate control makes movie weather only suitable in the Spring and Fall—and not always even then. The sound is a hang-in speaker that’s little more than a hang-on mono tape-recorder type device. Lines getting out—with smoke and exhaust fumes. Cars are more insulated and less ventilation unless the engine runs, And if you’re the sort with a pickup truck and lawn chairs and a bucket of chicken and the weather is tolerable, you still have a problem with mosquitos.
But I’m still glad we have one— and some night when the weather is right… I’ll go again
There is still one in Wichita.
Yes, it’s the last one for miles.
Yes, there are at least 6–7 in the Atlanta metro area. Three of them are right around the city, and the others are in a radius of 30–40 miles.
I haven’t been to a drive-in in at least 25 years.
There is one in Muskegon, MI.
My daughter lives in Concord, California, home of the Solano Drive In 1 & 2.
Sacramento, CA has one multi-screen drive in.
There is only one left. It’s still popular. My grown-up kids go there fairly regularly. We haven’t been for a while, but we do still go there.
We don’t have many of them in Ireland. We have a few temporary ones for festivals in Dublin (they only operate in the summer). Besides our weather in Ireland is too damp for it to be worth our while.
We did in the 70s, It got torn down to put in a K-mart Store, so no, not now. And that Kmart closed and a Walmart Supercenter went into it’s place.
About 40 miles away in a very small town away from city lights, there is a multi-screen drive-in theatre with a nice playground. There was supposed to be one coming nearer to us in the adjoining county but county council voted it down. We used to love drive-ins in the summertime when kids were out of school and we could stay up late and eat junk food!
