What are some things you wanted to eat lots of as a kid, but now you don't care?

Asked by Kardamom (33494points) June 17th, 2017 from iPhone

I remember being a kid and wanting to eat an entire port wine cheeseball (you know the reddish-orange ones covered in chopped nuts) but wasn’t allowed more than a couple of swipes on a cracker, because that cheeseball was for company. We only ever had them when we had company.

As an adult, I like those port wine cheeseballs just fine, but I think I’ve never bought one just for myself. I don’t think I could eat that much cheese in 2 months, and I’d probably be sick of that particular kind pretty quick if I ate large quantities of it.

When I was little I would have loved to have eaten a whole box of chocolates in one sitting, but was never allowed to because “it will make you sick.” Now, I don’t want to eat a whole box in one sitting. I love savoring them one at a time over many days.

What are some foods that you really wanted to eat a lot of when you were a kid, but maybe weren’t allowed to because it was bad for your teeth, only for guests, was too expensive to acquire with just your allowance, or maybe something like caviar, that adults were always saying was such a delicacy and only for adults? Then, when you became an adult, you really didn’t care one way or the other.

Pop Tarts. I can’t eat them anymore. I stitched to toaster strudels with icing , but only buy them once a year for Christmas with my egg nog.

Ice cream. Take it or leave it.

My feelings.

Okay seriously, I second Pop Tarts. I loved the frosted blueberry ones. Now I find too sweet. Same goes for Hostess Apple Pies. I thought they were sooo good. Had one as an adult and just thought it was nasty.

Anything sweet. I don’t eat candy or drink soda anymore. I don’t even eat cakes or ice cream.

I used to love that shit but my mom getting type 2 killed my urge to have my feet amputated.

Fatty, salty and sugary foods like ice cream, donuts, cakes etc.

I use to love soda pop. Never tough it now. Bad stuff

Planters Cheez Balls (which no longer exist). I would have eaten an entire canister of those things if my mother had let me. Nowadays, I might have a handful of the Utz brand cheese balls at a party every few years. They’re more or less indistinguishable from the Planters ones, but I’m just not that into them anymore.

Fruity pebbles cereal. It tastes so artificial.

Sweets and sugar in general. I’ve never been a dessert person unless it involved fruit in some way. I drink my espresso black. I can take or leave chocolate, but loved it when I was a kid. And I’m very lucky in this as diabetes runs rampant in both sides of my family. But, for some reason, I still love an ice cold Coca-Cola on a hot day. But I rarely do that. It’s not good for me at all.

When I was young and had no money I thought I could eat an infinite number of Mars bars. I was wrong, more than one would make me feel sick. I don’t buy any now unless I am going hill walking.

Sweet stuff. I’m all about spicy stuff now. I would say that I prefer sweet, and spicy flavors the most.
