Is it legal? For a non government job.

If you’re trying to bribe someone for a job it might take a bit more than $20.

@RedDeerGuy1 I would just take the $20 and still not hire ya thinking if this guy thinks $20 will get him the job he has another think coming.

@SQUEEKY2 @Darth_Algar What is a good amount of a bribe for a minimum wage job? Could I offer to pay the owner for the cost of training me $2000 – $4500.

A bribe will not look good in the eyes of the person doing the hiring. They will infer you do not have good references, so you’re paying to get the job.

@RedDeerGuy1

To be honest, most likely the best thing an attempt at a bribe will get you is the door and a stern message to never apply there again

Ok mostly tounge in cheek. Thanks all.

Send me the $20. I won’t do anything special for you, but you could still send me the money.

Of course you are.

You’ll go to jail.

Good Lord, NO, NO, NO. What kind of impression do you think that would make with someone you don’t know and who doesn’t know you?! Certainly not a good one.

If you really want to bride to get your job, first go to China, then put at least 5000$ in your resume. You are going for it, then make the most of it.

$20 Canadian? Nope, too polite.

All it would do is tell them you have no faith in yourself whatsoever.
Bribes for jobs take other forms anyway, not cash. For a nice position at a place with a high reputation, you would bribe by inviting the boss to dinner, or send an expensive bottle of wine.
What if the money got knocked loose in the stack and ended up on the floor, or stuck to someone else’s resume?
No, your best shot is to be polite, cheerful, and confident.

This is the U.S.of A., and you are apparently now allowed to do whatever-the-hell you want.

P.S. Please send me a resume’ (with $20.00 included). I’m not hiring right now, but will put your information on file for future consideration…..

PullMyFinger's avatar

Oh.

Alright @RedDeerGuy1…..I’ll accept $10.00 worth of maple syrup, a lightly-used hockey puck, and…..........(let’s see, buddy…............um…..)

.
......a signed photo of Alanis Morrissette, eh ??.....

^^^^ Wow. I had one of her songs running through my head when I sat down and clicked into this question and saw your post @PullMyFinger. And I don’t particularly care for her. Weird.

Patty_Melt's avatar

You have to love her. She is God.

PullMyFinger's avatar

OK then, @RedDeerGuy1…..you have to send the signed photo to @Patty_Melt

(but don’t try anything cute….I will check to make sure that she has received it….)
