Just wondering. What are the entry level jobs in comedy?

A “comedy troop” sounds like a television sitcom about Army or Marine soldiers, à la “Gomer Pyle, USMC”. (I’d include McHale’s Navy, but those are not technically “troops”, since the enlisted personnel in the Navy are sailors or seamen.)

I think that you have in mind a comedy troupe, which is a different sort of thing, and doesn’t involve basic training or sadistic drill instructors.

@CWOTUS Thanks. I flagged my question. Troupe not troop.

Second City has a training center.

Anyone can take a class. There is no audition. They have online writing classes, too. Some people do it as a lark, some people make it a serious hobby, and a small number of dedicated people get jobs on stage.

@Call_Me_Jay Seems contrary from being naturally funny. I like my freedom. I should be skipped ahead from my years as a class clown ”(Freedom Fighter)” The site is for Lawful Neutral I would like one for Chaotic Neutral PCs. Thanks for the insight I will be better off as a clerk.

To do any kind of troupe work you are going to first need to gather at least 3 other people. These people need to have great comedic timing and be good with improvisation. Comedy troupes don’t tend to be heavily scripted.
Then you need to create the material, which is best as a group activity. Once you have all that down, you need to find a place where you can put on your act.
It’s sound to me like you’d be better off with stand up comedy.

Find a club in your town that books comedic shows and audition for them. That might be one way in. People enter show business by many different roads. There is no one single formula that’s going to work for all.

With that said, if you’re serious then it might not be a bad idea to look into Second City’s online classes. It seems like you’re always asking about some kind of course you can take online, and Second City has been a virtual fountain of comedic heavyweights over the years.
