How do I load my video onto Facebook?

Asked by JLeslie (65789points) June 28th, 2017 from iPhone

I recorded it in a program called vlc recorder. I guess maybe I should use a different one. It’s a recorded section from a DVD I have. Facebook says it’s not in a format that will upload. I looked at the formats Facebook likes, and I don’t see that option if I try to save the video a different way.

If you don’t mind paying, I know a software called Bigasoft Total Converter that can convert basically any video file format.

Or you can go for the free option here, but you have to wait for a while for the file to upload.

Are you trying to do this on a phone or computer? VLC is a application that is fantastic but I worry if it is actually something called “vlc recorder” it might be bad and just hijacked VLC’s name since it is trusted and app stores are shit.

Care to share a link to the actual app used? At this point I’m not concerned about you uploading to facebook. I want to sort out if installed a sketchy app.

This is the legit link to anything VLC related. http://www.videolan.org/vlc/index.html

^^It says vlc media player. Maybe I’ll uninstall. I’m so nervous about stuff like this.

I think it was from that site, but I uninstalled it.

What I originally wanted was to record a smallish section of a DVD (5 minutes) and upload it to Facebook. What’s the best way? Is there something already on my computer that I can use? I have an HP with windows 10.
