How many credit cards do you have?
When I first thought of this question my answer was “None.” But then I realized, I have credit at Lowe’s, Walmart, Best Buy, Bass Pro and Sears. I only use them in extreme circumstances, though. I don’t carry any on me, and all the accounts are paid off at this point with a 0 balance.
I hate credit cards! I don’t have any generic Mastercards or Visas to be used anywhere for anything.

I have one prepaid virtual card that i use exclusively to buy hentai from japanese sites, since they do not accept paypal.
Many. But I pay them off immediately. I use them for the discount or mileage or cashback, whichever is the best deal .
Lowe’s gives 5% if you use their Lowe’s card.
American Express gives 5% on groceries, 3% on gasoline,
Visa gives 2% on everything else.
Sears gave 10% on an initial purchase.
Chase gave me $20 for opening an account. (no fee) etc.
Victoria’s Secret gives all kinds of free stuff and discounts.
etc.
I only carry the Lowe’s, AMEX and Visa cards. All others are in a drawer somewhere.
I have 9. But nearly all of them sit dormant in my desk. One of them that I procured as an umbrella for the daughter in her graduate school days, I should probably dump. All of the recurring monthly bills flow through a Visa card for automatic payment, leaving the single balance to be cleared in full once a month. We accumulate points like crazy, and I deceive myself into thinking I’m gaming the system.
I don’t see credit cards or the number of them as the problem; I see the problem stemming from people who can’t manage their money and use the cards to buy things they can’t afford.
@Dutchess_III One I use and 1 separate which has never been activated. So, two.
I have a Visa, a MasterCard and maybe one other, plus two store cards I try not to accept card offers because I feel like I’d be more likely to lose track of them and forget to pay them. The main one I use is the Visa and I pay that off in full every month. I do auto payments on all of them so I never worry about forgetting and getting fees.
I have two. One has a low limit and all it is used for is to pay my cell-phone bill (11 per month) and it is automatically paid every month. I do just enough to keep it active.
The other has I higher limit and I do everything on that since I get 2% cashback on all purchases. It gets paid off weekly.
I don’t think I have ever paid interest on either card.
I have one which I almost never use. Buying online with a credit card can give you greater protection.
