Check out ‘Shades of Blue’ and/or ‘Beat Konducta 1&2’ by Madlib.

Hi wilhelm, home again?

That very much depends: Are you looking to indulge your numbness or do you want to feel something? If so, what: positive or negative?
If you want to stay numb, I’d recommend the the songs of that title by U2 and Linkin Park.
If you want to fuel your anger, try Paint it Black by Rolling Stones.

If you want to stop feeling sorry for yourself and pull yourself together, start with Same Old Sun by APP and then try something like Welcome to Wherever you are by Bon Jovi.

by the way, for the heartburn, try a Rennie or just a glass of milk ;)

Blue October. Loaded with emotion.

You could put some energy into creating what my brothers used to refer to as a Burn Tape – nowadays it would be called Burn CD. You are gonna want it to include almost anything by Bread, I Need You by America, In to the Ocean by Blue October, Comfortably Numb by Pink Floyd, Bell Bottom Blues by Derek and the Dominoes, Rewind by Stereophonics, Gettin in Tune by The Who, Sad Songs and Waltzes by Cake. You get the picture.

Once you have listened to all of those, it’s time create another CD and change things up. Start out with Welcome to the Black Parade by My Chemical Romance, from there the songs just need to get more loud and obnoxious and and rockin. You should include I Wanna Be Sedated by The Ramones, Jagged Little Pill by Alannis Morrisette, Hair of the Dog by Nazareth, Self Esteem by The Offspring, Ball and Chain by Social Distortion. Again, you get the picture lot’s of loud of stuff to piss you off.

Finish off with that Wilson Phillips about holding on for one more day, and you are good to go.

The Devil and God Are Raging Inside Me by Brand New. It’s one of the most emotional, moving, and amazing albums I’ve ever heard. It wouldn’t hurt to at least check out, right?

Pointer Sisters, “Jump”. Jump in.
All Cole Porter.
Early Emmylou Harris. Though “Water from a Deeper Well”, not as early as all that,
will get to you too, because Daniel Lanois is a genius. He’ll get your sobs rolling. Yes –
you should listen to Emmylou singing “Sweet Old World” as fast as you can.

Dave Matthews Band Under The Table And Dreaming. It’s very existential. It takes you from contemplation, to despair, to wisdom.
