And if so how did you handle it, what was in your thoughts?
Our whole town got evacuated Friday because of a large forest fire threatening the town.

So far our town is safe, but a lot of outlying properties haven’t been so lucky.
At the brother inlaws 4 hours away.
Never. But I would like to hear from you. How are your house and properties? How did people conduct the evacuation? What did the fire do?
4 hours? That’s awful Squeek.
People actually conducted themselves excellently , our home is safe at the moment and we haven’t even lost power, I know because I called home and got the answering machine,so our fridge and deep freeze are fine, but the town just 14 kilomtres south of us lost their power Friday and it’s still out.
Yes, several years ago they were going to dig up illegal chemical wastes that were buried in tanks in my town. They evacuated the whole town, not knowing if the barrels would blow up when dug up. It turned out ok but we were evacuated for 10 hours.
No! Glad you and Mrs Squeeky are okay. That’s an awful thing for you and your community go through. I’m glad your town is okay so far.

Last xmas when the wife threatened to cook lunch…
No, but the town turned out to stem a flood. They spent hours filling sandbags to shore up the levy. I was out of town at the time, so I missed it.
God, I hate sandbag duty. Where I come from it’s usually in 9 billion degree heat.
Well our town was spared, no structure damage within city limits outer properties not so lucky but they are still not letting us return just yet.
They are claiming they are scared of windshift changes, and the towns water supply is dangerously low.
Glad your town continued to be spared @SQUEEKY2. Better to be safe than sorry. I hope you’re home soon.
Hey they are letting us go home tomorrow!!!
Yay! I’m sure you can’t wait.
I’m glad it all turned out OK for you, @SQUEEKY2
Hey we are home now, some of the neighbours have red houses from the fire retardant dropped by the bombers but ours was spared we made out well.
sleep the sleep of the just
There was a WWII bomb that was discovered during the building of a new school, in the town where I live. They tried to remove it, but it was far too heavy, and the surrounding land was mud, so attempts to dig it out just made it sink further. Eventually, they decided to detonate it in the the ground, and evacuated a large area in the danger zone. Some people refused to leave, and they signed a disclaimer. Nobody was injured, although there were a few cracked windows and minor structural damage, and the ground shook outside the danger zone.
Last year they found a live, WWII hand grenade in a box full of crap that was donated to the the Goodwill here. They evacuated the store.
