Should some prisoners be allowed to have access to the internet?
To take online classes, and to keep in touch? Like the way snail mail was 50 years ago? Or at the least have some stamps, envelopes and paper to write to family?

No.
Or, at the very least, it should be heavily monitored.
Yes, but with restrictions, if any, based on the type crimes they committed have been convicted of.
For example, priests should not have access to sites frequently used by children.
They are allowed, in some cases. Mostly for educational reasons.
