Is China getting ready for war?

Asked by imrainmaker (8380points) July 30th, 2017

Here’s the News
China is flexing it’s muscles in the military parade where Chinese President warning against any type of invasions. Interestingly PLA (Chinese Army) doesn’t work under Chinese Government but CPC (Communist Party of China). Isn’t that odd?

Every superpower is constantly getting ready for war.

China has been very aggressive in the past few years. They are building artificial islands for naval bases in disputed waters in the South China Sea.

They have, for the first time ever, a major naval presence in the Mediterranean Sea with a task force that includes one of the world’s most advanced aircraft carriers based at Latakia, Syria, a maritime industrial suburb of Aleppo..

They have built a naval base at the southern end of the Red Sea at Djibouti—capable of bottle necking 70% of the world’s commercial sea transport.

They expanded their Naval and sub base on the Chinese island of Hainan into the world’s largest of it’ kind—which is only 175 miles (281 km) from Mimishu1995’s house in Da Nang,

And they occupied the Vietnamese island chain of the Paracels in the South China Sea just about 36 months ago.

They have also built seven new dams on their side of the Vietnamese-Chinese border capable of shutting down the Mekong River, the life blood of Vietnam.

They are getting ready to defend themselves against aggression from the colonies under the drumpf regime.

Funny that drumpf is a German name.

To secure peace, is to prepare for war….

Yes, and they probably should.
Their increasing need for oil is creating friction between them and the US and Japan.
US sanctions on Russia and US policy in the Middle East is not helping it either.

When China was weak it had terrible experiences at the hands of the Japanese and the Western powers and it has vowed not to allow itself to be so weak again. The Chinese don’t want war any more than we do.

@flutherother
At the moment, they don’t have enough money anyway.
The irony is that the way to block their economic growth and their ability to afford to wage war is to make it hard for them to get oil, which would in turn make them more desperate and more likely to embark on an adventure. Like the Japanese did after the USA imposed an oil embargo. History’s eternal conundrum

@josie Why would we want to block China’s economic growth?

If good fences make good neighbors, I suppose the same could be said for armies.

I know of nowhere else reporting any sort of threats to Trump.
The purpose of this parade was for Jinping to declare his power, and solidify military behind him.
The military is headed differently in China than in US, and other places. Mr. Xi was making it clear that if he had enemies, he expects full compliance and loyalty from the military.
It was a public show of solidarity between political leadership and military power. It was strictly a unity measure within the country, and no act of aggression toward any particular person, body, faction, or country.

It was also a celebration of the 90th anniversary of the People’s Liberation Army which was founded on 1 August 1927.
