If a person with a mental illness such as anxiety can be disqualified from the military, then shouldn't people that have gender dysphoria be disqualified as well?

I dunno. Would gender dysphoria interfere with the ultimate mission? Would it interfere with efficiently killing other people?
Because it’ not something that’s necessarily going to interfere with their ability to do the job. Nor is it, necessarily, a mental illness.
People with gender dysphoria experience anxiety and depression, and increased risk of suicide
Some do. Some do not. Some are fine simply presenting themselves as the other gender and never feel the need to have sex reassignment surgery. Others, feel the need to go the full nine yards. There’s a bit of a spectrum there.
Don’t we all (some more, some less) experience anxiety and/or depression?
Gender dysphoria or not?
Just being in the military period would cause anxiety and depression in most people if you ask me. I can’t think of anything worse. haha
Okay..seriously, if a person of any gender or gender identity has serious pre-existing psychological issues then no, they should not serve.
I’m not a psychiatrist !.
It depends. And it is not necessarily get out of military mental illness.
Only if they are having psychological problems that affect their ability to perform their job. Psych problems can happen gay, straight, trans, etc.
Plus, if someone has already transitioned I don’t think I would say they still have gender dysphoria, but I’m not a medical professional, I don’t know what the medical community or psych community says about that. It seems to me if they live as the other gender, then they are the other gender at that point.
@ragingloli That really wasn’t cool, I thought it was going to be a joke.
You should have put up a graphic content warning.
Fucking psychopaths.
I believe the government changes the criteria from time to time, as to what’s allowed in and what’s not.
I don’t think anybody has the right to serve. We serve at the discretion of whoever makes the criteria and rules.
@Coloma “Okay..seriously, if a person of any gender or gender identity has serious pre-existing psychological issues then no, they should not serve.”
Shit, there goes about 3 /4ths of the current military.
Maybe the best thing for everybody would be not letting anyone join the military. You know.. just to be on the safe side.
@Darth_Algar Why do you say that? You mean at the time of enlistment?
I think he was being facetious.
^ Sadly, the good cops pay the price for the bad cops. Classroom mentality. The bad kids ruin it for the good kids.
Perhaps, then, the good cops need to start weeding out the bad cops.
Do not hold your breath. They are too busy covering for them.
