Are guys territorial?

I don’t think “territorial” is exactly the right word. Possessive & jealous come to mind with many immature males, and neither of these are positive traits. I wouldn’t worry about a guy being territorial as long as they aren’t pissing on you to mark said territory. LOL

Some will say you shouldn’t generalize but if I were going to generalize, I’d say guys don’t like competition. What the guy will do if there’s competition depends on the guy.

Well, it seems to be a constant among men I’ve known that they always vie to be the biggest, strongest, bravest, smartest. It’s just a guy thing.

Oh. I see. No. They do not like competition for a female they already have, but boy will they fight each other to get a new girl in town.

Well, this just came to mind. I had sex the first time when I was 15, with my boyfriend, Steve. I had made a conscious decision that that night would be the night. Boy was he happy! But then I almost immediately broke up with him. I had been so curious as to what it was all about….and it was about nothing, apparently.

Several years later, when I was 19 or so, my girlfriend and I ran into him and another guy at the mall. They’d rented a hotel room to watch the Superbowl on, and invited us up. We went.
This guy’s father started hitting on me (shudder.)
Steve said, “Dad. Back off. That’s my girl.” Well, no. I wasn’t. And hadn’t been for years.

A bit later he mentioned that we had had something very special together (he had taken my virginity.) I said, “That wasn’t anything special.”

We left not long after.

Mature men are not territorial. Mature women don’t put up with that kind of crap.
