Good question.
Seems very likely to me me that there are power struggles of increased intensity these days, but I have no sources for what is actually going on. Media sources will probably be media spins on sources several layers of misinformation away from the truth. I don’t even know who the actual players are. Trump, even more than other recent presidents, is a pawn and the real players/organizations will not be publicly discernible except vaguely or superficially. That is, clearly you can see Trump & his agents, the Republicans, the various military and information agencies and some of their people, and identify some themes and actions. But what’s really going on isn’t going to be visible.
It would be interesting to hear what some people inside some of those organizations have to say about what’s going on.
No. You need a little vacation. Take six months and go somewhere in the sun, somewhere cheap, like Port-au-Prince. It’s only six hundred miles from Miami. Flights are cheap, hotels as well. Hang there for awhile and keep your eyes and ears open. Get to know some people. Then come back. You’ll then know the difference between a struggling between democracy, the militia, the military and foreign powers all vying for control, and a stable government in a land of plenty. You’ll get to know people who struggle and have struggled for two hundred years—for bread, clean water and stable government, and can only dream of a security apparatus that isn;t there to police the people. You’ll know the difference.
It isn’t a coup. Those in the military and in the intelligence community have a sworn duty: to preserve, protect and defend the Constitution. Looks to me like they are taking their oath seriously.
So you’re calling what we have, a stable situation and government, even with accusations of Russian involvement, and the hiring and firing of key people in an administration at a rate we’ve never seen before?
And as far as food and water go, isn’t poverty in the US very high, as well as deteriorating infrastructure in water systems throughout the US?
Yes, even with amateur hour at the White House we still have a strong, stable government. Fortunately our system of checks and balances and measures for continuity of government are pretty robust, and the efficient functioning of our government doesn’t hinge on any one office.
Poverty is relative. Officially I live right at the poverty line. Yet, I never have wanted for food, clothing, clean water, comfortable, clean and secure housing. I own computers, HD televisions sets, game consoles, have broadband internet service, have ample entertainments never have the lights or the gas shut off and can afford extras like driving into Chicago to take in a concert. Not really sure how I’m impoverished, even if my income doesn’t afford me a McMansion in Naperville.
No, a military coupe is controlling the government at gunpoint and threat of death.
That is not happening. I am a bit leery of assigning so many key civilian jobs to generals. But from a legal standpoint, they don’t command troops any more. They are out of the chain of command.
And from a pragmatic standpoint, the generals are trustworthy and rational, unlike the political team.
