I don’t have any really, besides going to the pumpkin patch but I’m hoping to be inspired.

Not a very festive one, and not shared by all family members, but yeah: autumn depression.
@rebbel I’m sorry you get autumn depression, I’ve always thought it was the most beautiful time of year.
Thank you, @Roadtodebt.
And I am sorry too, that I came in your question first, answering like I did…
You were obviously longing for more joyful replies.
The autumn depression isn’t a full blown one, by the way.
It’s bothersome, annoying, but not really life altering.
And I do see the beauty of the cycle of life that it is.
I love autumn because it’s the season that I start drinking hot eas again.
I love fall! We go to fall festivals, craft shows, burn leaves, go peeping and build fires in the fire place. I decorate the inside of my house with fall decorations.
@chyna That’s great! I’ve never heard of burning leaves, what’s it for?
We rake the fallen leaves and burn them to get rid of them. I love the smell.
I love Fall. My family and a group of my female friends drive out to the country to a huge pumpkin patch.
And of course there are the holiday drinks at Starbucks, the pumpkin spice lattes, and pepermint mochas. So yummy!
And I start baking! Pumpkin this and pumpkin that, peach crisps, gingerbread cakes, and shortbread cookies.
And we go to the beach. September and October in CA is the best time to go to the beach, because it’s still warm (not the water, the water is never warm) and there are no crowds.
I love fall too, problem is we may not get one the rate it’s going this year. 5 months of rain and now 3 months of heat and still going on, for days and days to come. My old traditions were back to school when my daughter was young, harvesting pumpkins and flower seeds from my garden, baking and raking and putting the flannel sheets on the beds. This year I may be dead from heat induced burnout rage. LOL
@Coloma that’s unfortunate I hope it cools down wherever you are, is it hard to grow pumpkins?
@Roadtodebt I am going to the beach for a couple days the 1st of Oct. that will help. Only 5 weeks to go. haha
Pumpkins grow like weeds. Just plant them in the sun and give them a lot of water and they will go crazy in no time.
@Coloma enjoy your trip! (: and thank for the information I’ll have to try, it would be neat to at least watch them start to grow! not expecting the great pumpkin or anything but I’d be happy either way.
@Roadtodebt It’s too late to plant them now, you harvest them in the fall, obviously. Plant them next May-June depending on your climate and they wll be ready in Sept./Oct.
Lots of fun, your child would really enjoy watching them grow. The vines get long with big leaves and trail along and the fruits grow every day, literally, they will double in size within days once they set fruit. They start green and turn orange as they get bigger.
@Coloma Yes, the heat is ridiculous. I am concerned that we will have another year round summer.
@Kardamom Ugh..I hope not, seriously, I can’t take it anymore. Going for 102 Sunday and into mid-week. make it stop! I have NEVER experienced such a sustained period of being so, damn, out of sorts.
@Coloma Last year was the coolest year we had (in Southern CA) for 6 years straight! 6 years of perpetual summer. And on top of that, I became a “woman of a certain age” in the middle of that, so I run about 10 degrees hotter than everyone else (‘cept for my sister WOACA gals).
So this will be year 7. Sometimes I think I am going to just burst into flame. Now you guys in Northern CA are going to be the site of another white supremacist rally. These people need to be drummed out, and called out for what they are: terrorists.
Gotta watch out for that, though. That damn Donald Trump will try to drum me out of CA Big fat POS!!!
Just to let all of you know, I am very worried for the child of 2 of our members. I’m pretty sure you know who they are. Please, everyone think about that. Donald Trump is the devil in disguise. This POS excuse for a “fake” President has just thrown more fuel on the fire. No one is safe. Not women, not people of color, not transgender people, not gay people, not Gold Star Families, not handicapped people. No one is safe, except for White Supremacists and Nazis.
I’m really scared for all of us.
We used to go over to a friend’s house for Thanksgiving, but we realized that we became her sou-chefs for 4 hours before getting to eat. Now we have our own casual potluck Thanksgiving meal with another friend. Spend around 2 hours cooking separately, then gather at our house to eat.
