Are there any good sequel songs?

Asked by filmfann (52487points) August 27th, 2017

I can immediately think of a lot of songs that are essentially sequels to prior songs, but I can’t think of any good ones.
Judy’s Turn To Cry is a sequel to It’s My Party. Gravy was a sequel to Mashed Potato. He’ll Have To Go inspired He’ll Have To Stay. Elton John even did Mona Lisa’s And Mad Hatters part 2.
They all suck.
Can you think of any good ones?

I nominate Stevie Wonder’s ‘Fingertips, Part II’ which was the ‘B’ side (and eventual hit) to the intended ‘A’ side, ‘Fingertips’, in 1963.

Bonus fact: On drums…..

Marvin Gaye

Billy, I’ve Got to Go to Town By Geraldine Stevens is a good answer to Ruby, don’t Take Your Love to Town By Kenny Rogers and the First Edition.

I first heard “Billy” back in 1969, played back to back with “Ruby”. It made a lasting impression, but I could never find it again until the Internet was invented.

And then King of the Road was answered by Jody Miller (apparently no relation) with Queen of the House.
