I should have added the low price date of August 21, 2017
WV. From about 2.29 to 2.79
Boston. From approx. $2.30/gal. to $2.56/gal.
Is this a direct result of the very large refinery in Texas shutting down (due to the weather), or is it just oil companies being opportunistic?
I honestly do not know and hope someone has some insight and a better understanding of the oil market than me.
@cookieman I understand the Colonial Pipeline which goes from the Gulf coast up to New Jersey, has been shutdown since the storm. It is suppose to open up again on the 5th of September.
Here in B.C our gas prices have jumped 14cents a LITER!
But we Canadians just love taking it up the butt when it comes to gas prices.
$2.29 to about $2.89 yesterday.
What time span are we talking about, begin and end?
In Washington and Oregon, the lowest prices seem to be about the same now in September as they have been since May, give or take, though a gas price chart site I know shows a 20 cent steady-ish rise in averages over the past month. Looking at some other states, though (e.g. California, Nevada, New York(!), and the US average), I do see a more recent spike over the last week.
Uh… At least 40 cents. Charleston, SC.
Gas Buddy says $2.59 is typical around here.
Not much change. I know I haven’t paid much less or much more recently.
Was 2.21 last week, now 2.79.
Although the pipeline is supposed to be back in service tomorrow, so by the end of the week, my guess is that it will be back down around $2.29.
Suburban Atlanta
No idea actually. Haven’t filled the tank in a month.
update
Just filled up tonight and it was $2.80/gal.
We had lines all last week in Austin. Places sold out and you’d end up going to multiple places. People would post on facebook where they “found gas”...
It looks like it was all driven by rumors of a shortage. Basically the possibility of a shortage, plus bad timing (long travel weekend + first week of school in some areas) created a shortage, there were the same delivery schedules and amounts in town as normal.
Prices I’ve seen have been $2.59 – $2.79.
Looking at Gas Buddy $2.79 in Chicago, $2.59 in the suburbs. It’s gone up about 20 cents in the a past month.
I’m driving to Wisconsin tomorrow and it’s $2.49 up there. Even with the combined hurricane and traditional Labor Day hike we aren’t much affected.
Been the same in California alll summer. $3.159 for regular. But we pay more than everywhere else already.
Dropped 4 cents since last night (2.79 to 2.75) – I think this is because the big pipeline is back on line, and the supply worries are pretty much gone.
@st I paid $2.27 last night at the Conoco off the Tower exit near the Denver Airport! $2.24 yesterday in Glenwood Springs!
About $0.50/gal since 2 days ago in central Florida.
