What are some things that are delicious with their "common" configuration that would be odd if they were different?

Asked by Kardamom (33494points) September 4th, 2017 from iPhone

For example, brownies are known for being chewy, but what if they were tangy, or effervescent, or some other way in which we normally don’t think of that food?

What if a juicy burger, was also light and airy? Some things that we love to eat are light and airy.

Just have fun with this question and you all can decide whether you would still enjoy things if they suddenly took on different characteristics.

Most people love gooey, melty caramel, but would you enjoy gooey, melty pumpkin pie?

I’ve always found it interesting that most of us love butter on things…..popcorn, English muffins, etc., but nobody I know ever eats just a spoonful of butter by itself…...

@PullMyFinger – you don’t know many hardcore outdoorsfolk do you? Straight butter is a heck of an experience, and it’s not for everyone, but if you’ve ever been cold and hungry, butter is an amazing pick me up. Any saturated fat will do, really.

My 2 year old demands butter sometimes. He’s been known to pull it off his muffin and stuff it in his face, then lift the muffin like Oliver’s bowl and ask “more?”

Nah, I grew up in New York, so my outdoorsmanship was kind of limited to singing doo-wop under the Brooklyn Bridge at 3:00 a.m.

I’m sure that your son is the coolest little guy ever (so is my grandson….ha ha….), and he will always be welcome to my share of uneaten butter….

Apples.
An apple a day, keeps needs to be hard, a ‘crispy’ skin, consistent meat.
The day before yesterday I bought two Jona Gold apples, and I ate one of them.
Yuk.
Skin was wafer thin, meat was soft, almost like mousse.
They were fresh, not off.
Just yuk.

Recently, a relative and I had dinner at a downtown Memphis, Tenn., restaurant. The cousin ordered a side of “Arkansas Fried Pickles”. The pickle chips were sweet and not dill; the latter more common here in the south and lovely.

I’ve tasted some odd items, but this is one I’ll never give a second chance.

I used to eat Crisco by itself when I was a kid. I still kind of like it.

My grand daughter likes to get a spoon full of mayo now and again.

But, to answer the question…I don’t know! I do know that the texture of some foods throw me off, like nuts in ice cream, although I like ice cream and nuts seperately. Or….cottage cheese in Jello. WHO INVENTED THAT ABOMINATION??!!

I recently ate some Oreos that had pop rocks mixed into the frosting. They made a popping/snapping noise in my mouth. It was quite good.
It was even better when I took the tops off two cookies and made a double stuffed single. Twice the action!
