What strange things do your teenage children do?

Asked by charliecompany34 (7813points) August 12th, 2008

i know, i know. some of us on fluther were teenagers once. but i cannot figure out why my 19-year-old son gets online after a shower with just boxers on or why he cannot put bathroom items where bath items need to go. i had rituals too when i was a teenager, but they keep me scratching my head why? needed to wash my hair with rain water when i was 19. what strange things do you see with your teenager?

when I was a teenager, and my grandmother used to leave our mail on the steps (we lived in the apartment upstairs so we could help her out), I would walk right past it, or worse… open something and then put it back on the steps and leave it there. LOL

When I was a teen, I wouldn’t take out the garbage without full hair and makeup…these days, I can’t even be bothered to shave my legs!

I love that my teenager will declare that it’s hot in winter and want to leave w/ just jeans and t-shirt and during the summer, will need a sweatshirt.

She’s weird.

How about this one: “Mother, you just don’t understand!” I must be very naive, because I truly did not think I’d ever hear this one from my kids.

@augustian—That reminds me of something. One of the weirdest things I’ve ever heard in my life was when my mother complained, “My mother just didn’t understand me!” She was in her mid-50s at the time and I laughed and told her she sounded worse than me.

I’ve been very independent, when I was a teen, I used to work, wash my own clothes and was a very good student, you know, that kind of stuff, and my mom used to ask me “why don’t you go out and do something normal kids do, like play soccer, hit the mall, or even have a gf?” and I said “no ma, I have my reasons” after almost 10 years of those glorious days, I drive my reasons every day to go to work…
