Hmmm… That narrows it down.
try Modern English – Stop the world
I bet it’s
Nada Surf – if you leave
no! arg its killing me its like a happier song
Maybe New Order Blue Monday?
So far you have narrowed it down to just about every 80’s song…....
i know its not that clear lol but i just seen it too many times….........its almost like bells and for some reason it always comes on when theyre introducing molly ringwald haha
did you listen to both of the songs I listed?
Pretty in pink started out with Social Distortion – Pretty in pink I believe?
or Simple Minds – Dont you
?
Pretty in Pink is sung by the Psychedelic Furs.
Is there some youtube footage you can provide or something?
There are several who can help but throw us a friggin’ bone here?! A movie or commercial you can link us to would help.
Can we take points away from this question? This is a frustrating question!
@Cheeb: If You Leave was by OMD in the 80’s. Nada Surf was much later.
Have you tried If You Were Here by the Thompson Twins? Bad recording, I know, but it has the bells thing.
Ok. I’m pulling my 80s CDs out.
@breedmitch & Tinyfaery- your are right, my mistake ; )
Is it a song from a movie? Or just a hit in the 80’s? Is it from a movie with Molly Ringwald?
What type of music? Disco, Rock, Synth-pop…...? Male/female vocals?
If fluther solves this, i’m proud.
Can you think of a specific show or commercial you heard it in? That might help narrow it down.
The Chariots of Fire song is an instrumental released in ‘81, but I wouldn’t necessarily describe it as “light.” Light-ish instrumentals that come to my mind are Music Box Dancer by Frank Mills, but that came out in 1979; another is Jessica by The Allman Brothers, but that came out sometime in the 70’s too.
i just got back on this morning and im going to take a look at all the responses. its actually pretty sweet how you all take so much pride into your fluthering.
i heard it on several just tv shows refrencing about the 80’s for some strange reason thats hot on tv? go figure, but recently i heard it on that show i love the 80’s on vh1 im trying to find that one part they play it on….but they did play it while refrencing sixteen candles!
if you are wondering why i need this. my friend would like to sample this one part for a song he is making
I bet it is Andrew Gold’s Thank you for being a friend. I think it was used for the Golden Girls, but then the lyrics were removed and it was used in commercials and kind of like a ode to the “80’s.
Refrencing? Define, please. Perhaps you mean ” to reminisce”?
@gail: Do you need a hammer to help drive the point home?
The point seemed to be a scattering of dots on a graph. 29 answers and we are no closer to narrowing the choices. Jamzzy is not adding details – just repetition.
http://www.midomi.com/ This might help…you can hum a tune, or sing into a mic on your computer and this website should be able to help narrow down who it is.
so…did you find out what song it was?
Knotmyday’s guess sounds like a winner! Has the bells and cliché lyric that seems to fit the context.
<Bows, blows kisses>
“You lurve me, you really lurve me!!!!”
?? did you find out what it was?
yes but im not gonna say who was right. because they would feel bad ass
if you tell us we can give whoever is all kinds of lurve
Come on, you gotta tell us!!
tell us! tell us! tell us!!
No fair! You have to tell!
thats no fair at all RandomMrdan everyone helped. everyone should get lurve haha and plus i feed off this kind of power
You suck. I’m never trying to help you again.
boo
The negative lurve troll lurks in shadows
alright green shoe…we’ll remember that! he he
In absence of any other proof, I win.
I don’t know. I think If You Leave by OMD is the song. It was more popular.
@Jamzzy, do you remember how frustrated you were when you couldn’t figure out the song? That’s how frustrating it is when you refuse to tell us the name of the song. Tell Us!
I’m with sndfreQ, I see the negative lurve troll hovering,
Who gets the nomination for “Idjeet of the week”?
can you give negative lurve?
so…what was the name of the song?
So…you asked Fluther to tell you the name of “that one 80s song,” and Fluther came through.
This is officially the most incredible site on the Internet.
@RandomMrdan you can give negative lurve now. there, i gave you some
No more good teen movies. NEVER. :(
