How can a professional football team go almost 50 years without winning a Superbowl?
The KC Chiefs won the Superbowl in 1970. That’s it. What is the common denominator through the last 5 decades?

The same way the White Sox took 88 years to win the World Series. They were cursed.
Cheap ownership and lousy coaches.
But the Chiefs won once. There are a lot of teams that have never won a Super Bowl; some are expansion teams, so have been around since before the AFL/NFL Merger!
Bills, Browns, Bengals, Jaguars, Texans, Titans, Chargers, Eagles, Vikings, Lions, Panthers, Falcons, Cardinals.
The same way the Cubs can go more than a century without winning a World Series. Like @Espiritus_Corvus says, it usually boils down to cheap ownership. The Cubs, for example, have only recently had owners willing to put real money and resources into the team. The results speak for themselves.
This seems to me more a rhetorical question than one that can be neatly answered. Might as well ask:
“Even though two candidates were disliked (according to polls), how could a highly qualified and experienced one lose to a totally unqualified and inexperienced one?
Well, there are 32 teams total, and only one Super Bowl a year. Some teams have won several times, so that narrows down the odds a bit.
The last time the Chiefs won their conference championship (and the ONLY time since the 69 season) was 1994.
So, they really have only lost the Super Bowl once since 1970… since they only appeared in one.
Picky picky picky! Let me introduce you to a place full of picky people. It’s called Fluther.com…........................................
Oh. Wait.
I’m thinking maybe they aren’t as wealthy as other teams & therefore can’t compete when it comes to best players/wages at the draft
