Can you move a sink two feet without opening up the slab foundation?

Asked by JLeslie (65743points) September 16th, 2017 from iPhone

The house has a slab foundation. The kitchen sink is in the kitchen island, and if I wanted to increase the width of the island, the sink would need to be moved one to two feet forward, depending how much I add to the island. Forward meaning if you stand in from of the sink you need to step backwards and pull the sink back towards you.

Can you just add plumbing pipe joints to do this just below the sink? Or, do you have to change the pipes beneath the cabinets?

If you look at the plumbing under your sink you will see two flexible supply lines and pvc drains all of which can be replaced to accomodate a new sink location. Not a big deal. If you want to relicate the plumbing in the slab that is a huge hairy deal.

You know that is one of the biggest hurts when you have a slab foundation. A small move is possible but a large distance may mean the sink and disposal may not drain right. They need a drop over distance.
