1) Healthcare
2) College tuition
3) Internet
All should be paid through federal, state, county and local taxes. Collective bargaining power.
Copies of Trump’s book: The Art of the Deal
Healthcare
Student fees (free to everyone who can pass the exams)
Nothing is free. Nothing.
I would make overtime and labor regulations that discourage employers from paying low wages and demanding long hours.
Community college would be free through state lotteries. There would be strict regulations on health insurance companies and pharma manufacturers would have to justify pricing. There would be a quasi-gov’t cost recovery telecommunications provider that serves low cost internet and cellular. There would also be a clean energy “moonshot” Taxes would be reduced wherever possible for the working and middle class.
A home. It doesn’t have to be great. Four walls and a safe place with electricity and plumbing. Enough that you don’t spend 50% of your time wondering where you will sleep and shit.
This is actually a huge problem with food stamps. People have to buy shit like lunchables since they don’t have a fridge. And then people are all “rice and beans, I can eat for 20 cents a day.” That shit is heavy. Carry around a bag of rice and beans all day and let me know how your back feels.
And again.. I have been homeless. When you struggle to find food and then hey there is a job you could get across town. But the bus is 3 bucks and you smell like you slept next to the river because you did. What is the fucking point of wasting the cash when you could just sit next to the river munching on saltines. You have no clean clothes.. You have no address.. You have no access to a shower or razors. There is a reason the homeless have beards.
Tampons. I hate paying for them.
I’d say healthcare, but I wouldn’t be completely bent out of shape if there were small charges here and there.
I’m very interested in the Singapore model of housing for everyone. It has morphed quite a big from the original idea, but decent housing and neighborhoods would go a long way in raising a new generation of better healthier people both mentally and physically.
@JLeslie Tampons? That would be what you want free? SMH.
@chyna That’s what you dwell on out of my whole answer? LOL. I mention healthcare and housing including showing some faint knowledge of the policy in Singapore and you go do the tampons?
On a serious note, I do think tampons should be eligible for payment with HSA accounts. They are medical devices reviewed and approved by the FDA, and only women have to buy them. Tampons, bras, hair, make-up, we have all sorts of expenses men don’t have.
Well it was your first statement.
What can I say, the humor was at the top of my head, and then I buckled down to a more serious answer.
I’m actively fighting for free healthcare.
