Is it OK to disable ad blocker when some sites request that you do so in order to proceed?

Asked by Dutchess_III (47050points) September 27th, 2017

Normally I see it on sites I can live with out and I just click out and go on.
However, I went to a site recommended by a Jelly to begin the process of reloading the operating system on my laptop, and it wants me to “white list” their site in my ad blocker.

What does that mean?

It means you’re allowing them to show ads on their site. You need to do this to use that site and it’s ok to do. Ad-blocker either asks you if you want to “pause ad blocker” or “white list” the site. You can reverse it later if you want to.

Thanks. Just wanted to be sure. I mean I knew what it SAID it was doing, but I wasn’t 100% the message originated with the site.

Are you using Firefox Ad Blocker Plus, or an ad blocker provided by some other bruiser?

I think it’s Firefox Ad Blocker. But I resolved the problem.
