After menstruating I think it is closed until you near ovulation.

Did a doctor tell you yours is closed? Are you not menstrsting?

How on earth do you know your cervix is closed, and why does it need to be open? This is honestly the strangest question I’ve ever read on here.

Cervixs are closed all the time unless you’re menstruating or ACTUALLY HAVING A BABY.

They are open when you ovulate too. How else are you going to get preggers?

Yeah. that occurred to me finally. But its not open like WIDE open unless you’re in labor.
Curious question.

Right, it’s just a small opening. The cervix gets soft and opens up for ovulation.

I was at 8 for two weeks before I finally went into labor! Thought the kid was gonna fall out into the yard when I mowed the lawn!

My ex had an “incompetent” cervix since she’d had a precancerous conic removal. When she finally got pregnant, the obstetrician gave her a cerclage, a stitch to close her cervix up!

Huh. So how did the baby get out? And what about menstruation after the baby?

@Dutchess_III The doctor snipped the stitch right before labor was induced.

Did the fact that itvl was so open cause her any problems?

@Dutchess_III She was on pretty strict bedrest for 5½ months. We had team of people coming in, each person took a day and would help her shower then move onto a futon in the family room and feed her lunch. She’d be there until after dinner, when I would help her get back to bed.

Did she recover?
