What are your thoughts regarding the shooting at Mandalay Bay?
Brutal.
I’m hearing first reports now.
If you have concerns, prayers, information updates, or any comments, will you share them here?
I used to live in Reno.
I have attended a number of outdoor concerts and other events there. I know the fun, the sharing, the large crowds of such events.
The news of this attack brings back those memories, and a feel of what it must have been like when shots began raining down on the unsuspecting crowd.
I am stunned.
I have written this question specifically with social aspects in mind.
Political rants or comments are not welcome, and will be flagged.

I just saw a video feed of people running for cover during the shooting.
There was a man with a small girl, maybe ten years old.
What mayhem!
NYT reports 20 dead, hundreds injured.
I live fifteen minutes from the strip. In all six years of living here, I’ve never heard of any kind of attacks like this on Vegas. But why did they choose this concert to attack? From the looks of the cell phone video, it appeared to be a relatively small concert. EDC is a much bigger deal. From what I hear, police have found the person of interest they were looking for and the vehicles associated with her.
Horrifying.
Over 50 dead, over 200 harmed.
I was in Vegas a month or so after 9/11 in 2001, and I thought to myself at the time, this feels like a huge target. Sin, lights, party, and money flowing. It seemed like the symbol of everything the ultrareligious would despise, plus a lot of people in one place.
I have no idea about the person/people who did this. Are they working on their own? Part of a group?
I feel like any of us could be directly or indirectly related to the victims there are so many.
I know a lot of people who don’t want to travel to Europe because they feel it’s unsafe, and I always ask them why they think America is safer.
The person of intrest is his widow. They were concerned he might have harmed her. Now that they found her they are hoping she can help them understand his motives for the killing.
Shooting down on a helpless crowd, children on their parents’ shoulders.
What cold evil actions.
The witness accounts are beginning to be televised. It is so horrifying.
They can’t find a motive. I am thinking there may have not been one.
Given the man’s age, and history, I have to wonder if he had some medical issue which had altered his judgement. There are mental issues which could explain his behavior, but there are also physical ailments which can cause a sudden and drastic change in personality.
I wonder if an autopsy is being done to see if he was sick.
Yes, autopsies in cases like this is SOP, if there is enough left of him.
“The federal authorities said there were no indications that Mr. Paddock had ties to any international terrorist organization, despite a claim of responsibility by the Islamic State.”

For now, it looks like he was just an unhappy 64 year-old male with a lot of weapons, ammunition and an axe to grind.
He positioned himself on the 32nd floor above 40,000 concert attendees crowded onto 15 acres of land between hotels.
“Paddock aroused no suspicion from hotel staff even as he brought in 23 guns, some of them with scopes. One of the weapons he apparently used in the attack was an AK-47 type rifle, with a stand used to steady it for firing, people familiar with the case said.”

Holy shit. There’s a bill supported by the Republicans that’s been passing through Congress to legalize silencers. Jesus Christ, those sonzabitches can’t get enough of that NRA cock.
