You can bet he would.

I would describe it as breaking wind audibly.

Dutchess_III's avatar

God that’s the last adjective I’d use to describe him.

Zaku's avatar

No. At best I’d use a word like manipulative.

marinelife's avatar

Not at all.

Darth_Algar's avatar

No, not particularly.

Aster's avatar

Sure; to be POTUS I think you must be clever, charismatic, intelligent and at least a little dishonest. Prerequisites I think.

Dutchess_III's avatar

He is non of the above, except a LOT dishonest.

flutherother's avatar

He has the qualities you would expect in a third world dictator; he is shrewd, manipulative and cunning. I wouldn’t describe him as clever as that word has favourable connotations I don’t associate with Trump.

Dutchess_III's avatar

How can someone so damn stupid be cunning or shrewd?

an_hero's avatar

Actually yes. He, a business man with no experience and career in politics, managed to top a professional politician like Clinton and become a motherfucking president, which makes him a great example of “work smart, not hard” – he didn’t have any experience in the American political scene, no knowledge, and no education on the subject. However, he knew how to present himself, ponder to people and pull off a successful campaign. As a business man, he had all the experience in convincing people he’s the one whose vote they should give to. He worked smart rather than hard, and a stupid person would not be able to pull that off.
I don’t support him, but he’s hot as stupid as he seems.

Dutchess_III's avatar

Yes it was so smart to brag about grabbing women, and SUPER smart to mock a disabled person. His intelligence is underwhelming.

ragingloli's avatar

He is the amalgamation of all the village idiots in history.
The only people dumber than him are those that gave him their votes.

Aster's avatar

@Dutchess_III Joking, in poor taste, about grabbing women doesn’t show a low IQ. He is smart, cunning and manipulative but he needs to learn to control what he says. It was poor judgement for sure. He should keep his distorted sense of humor to himself.

Muad_Dib's avatar

I thought it was particularly funny when he told that joke about creeping in on the teenaged beauty contest participants’ dressing rooms so he could catch a peek of them naked.

Barrel of laughs, that guy.

Darth_Algar's avatar

@Aster

Political campaigns are popularity contests. One need not be clever or intelligent to be popular.

kritiper's avatar

No, not by a long shot. I would consider him a subversive before ever seeing him as clever.

MrGrimm888's avatar

From what I’ve ever seen, or heard, of his own actions and rhetoric, he is of below average intelligence. Just like his supporters…Melania is probably at least as smart, and she’s just a prostitute…

NomoreY_A's avatar

I’d describe him as a moron. He even talked smack about Senator John McCain, and belittled his POW experience. Way to support the veterans, ass hat.

LornaLove's avatar

This is my own opinion, but I think that narcissists have their own brand of ‘clever’. I’ll tell you why. They go about finding out what people or a person wants, they find out peoples or countries weaknesses and then they use that to manipulate them to get what they want. Maybe you could call it ‘sly’ or cunning.

JLeslie's avatar

I’d say you can probably use clever to describe him. I think he sees opportunities that other people are missing, and that’s how he wrangles his supporters.

Clever usually also implies being very smart. I wouldn’t call him very intelligent, but he is smart in some ways, too bad a lot of them are diabolical.

kritiper's avatar

@MrGrimm888 Oooo! Harsh realm! GA!

Darth_Algar's avatar

@LornaLove

However that doesn’t seem to be the case with Trump. From what I’ve seen and read the man himself is rather easy to manipulate. Evidently, in his political moves to his business dealings before, you can just about get the man to give you damn near anything you want simply by flattering him a little. It seems he doesn’t much care what the deal actually is as long as he gets to claim credit for it.

Jeruba's avatar

Clever? Maybe, in a trashy street-brawler kind of way. But intelligent? Not even if he claimed to have invented the word “troglodyte.”

Yellowdog's avatar

All judgement aside, “Shrewd” would be a better word.

The Republicans seem to hate him as much as the Democrats. But he has a shrewd ability to get things donne, in spite of all this opposition, slander, and obstructionists. He does INDEED work hard—and cannot be defeated by conventional means. He may not have won the popular vote, but his support base is very massive.

There is so much fake news and so many false stories and cell phone hysteria that he isn’t being brought down—because he has not even been correctly defined or understood. You have to know a person for what they actually are before you can bring them down.

Darth_Algar's avatar

And what things has he actually got done so far?

filmfann's avatar

I don’t know him personally, so I will defer to his friends, and say he’s a fucking moron.

Yellowdog's avatar

Briefly commenting here on Filmfann—- I notice at this point three “Great Answer” points awarded for an answer that gives no hard or practical information and appears to be written of the mindset of a twelve or thirteen year old. This is EXACTLY what’s wrong with Fluther. While I recognize immature answers by those claiming moral and intellectual superiority are common among internet trolls, what really sinks Fluther is the fact that three people in a relatively short time consider this a “great answer.”

Anyhow, to answer Darth Algar, regarding Trump’s accomplishments, I can think of about 17 important meetings with world leaders in his first eight months including China and Russia and Saudi Arabia which commanded respect and got much accomplished. He has been on the ground and active during four major hurricanes, wildfires, and the largest shooting in U.S. history—all of where he was very welcome and benevolent, quite the opposite of the comic-book caricatures on social media, I have read of at least six victims of the Las Vegas shootings who were visited by Trump personally—contrary to the way depicted on Fluther, and popular news media.

President Trump kept his word and put an originalist Neil Gorsuch, on the U.S. Supreme Court to replace Justice Antonin Scalia. What the mainstream media will not tell you and what Trump’s enemies will never admit is that this is just one of the president’s many accomplishments.

President Trump is busy bringing back jobs, making phone calls to the CEOs of companies day and night. He’s gutting Obama-era regulations, and the president has said he could eliminate up to 75 percent of government rules and regulations. The war on coal is over and the red tape from the Obama administration is gone.

Illegal immigration has plummeted since Trump took the oath of office. The White House is fighting back against sanctuary cities by taking a tough stance against places that shield illegal immigrants.

President Trump has drafted a plan to defeat ISIS. His administration has sanctioned Iran over its missile program and put the rogue regime on notice. Our commander-in-chief responded to Syria’s use of chemical weapons by approving a Tomahawk missile strike.

Domestically, President Trump created a task force to reduce crimes. He signed executive orders to protect police officers and to target drug cartels that poison our cities, suburbs and rural areas.

While the president is enacting his agenda every day, there’s still plenty of work do. Failing to repeal and replace ObamaCare was a big misstep. Republicans need to learn from that mistake and build consensus before introducing such an important bill. And while the health care bill is not dead, Republicans are moving ahead on a massive tax reform plan.

The Republican leadership needs to come together to pass the president’s budget so we can reduce spending, shrink government, rebuild the military, and get all of these things done so Americans get back to work.

While President Trump works to advance his agenda, the alt-left, propaganda, destroy-Trump media, breathlessly reports on infighting in the White House. Who knows whether or not the press has blown this out of proportion, like everything they cover. But the reality is that it’s irrelevant. Whomever President Trump wants around him is his business. If you work for the president, your job is to put his agenda in place, serve him and serve the country.

There are many people and factions that want to see this president fail. Yet, he’s right on the right track, and all he has to do to succeed to be popular and to win over votes in the coming elections is to keep his promises to the American people.

1) He got conservative judge Neil Gorsuch on the Supreme Court.
2) The stock market is at an all-time high.
3) Consumer confidence is at an all-time high.
4) He created more than a million jobs by undoing Obama’s regulations.
5) Mortgage applications for new homes is at a 7 year high.
6) Unemployment rate is at a 16 year low.
7) Signed the promoting women in entrepreneurship act.
8) Gutted 800 Obama era regulations thus freeing up companies to hire again and get the economy moving once again.
9) Ended the war on coal and caused a new mine for coal mining to open that will mine clean coal. He also put the miners back to work.
10) Weakened Dodd-Frank regulations.
11) Promotes buying and hiring American.
12) Investments from major businesses such as Foxconn, Ford ,Toyota, Intel amd others will build here now.
13) Reduced illegal immigration by over 70%.
14) Bids for the border wall are underway.
15) He’s fighting back against sanctuary cities.
16) Changed the rules of engagement against ISIS.
17) Drafted a plan to defeat ISIS.
18) Worked to reduce the cost of the F-35 fighter jets.
19) Imposed a five year lobbying plan.
20) Sanctioned Iran over its’ missile program.
21) Responded to Syria’s use of chemical weapons.
22) Reduced tax reform plan.
23) He’s renegotiating NAFTA.
24) He withdrew from the Trans Pacific Partnership thus keeping jobs here.
READ: Raging McCain Rips Trump for Pardon of Sheriff Joe Arpaio
25) He pulled us out of the Paris Climate Accords thus saving us millions of dollars every year.
26) Created a task force to reduce crime.
27) The DOJ is targeting dangerous gangs like MS-13.
28) Signed independence and economic growth law.
29) Signed an executive order to protect police officers and target drug cartels.
30) Signed an executive order for religious freedom.
31) His administration is working on sending education back to the states.
32) He’s fixing the dept. of Veterans affairs so now vets can choose their own doctors and be covered. This also protects whistle blowers and allows VA to terminate bad employees..
33) Authorized construction of the Keystone and Dakota pipelines. The Dakota pipeline is up and running without harming the environment.
34) Created commissions on election fraud and opioid addiction.
35) Food stamp use is the lowest level in seven years.
36) Reduced the White House payroll saving taxpayers millions of dollars.
37) He’s donating his salary to various causes.
38) Signed 52 pieces of legislation.
39) Cut 600 billion from UN peacekeeping mission.
40) Gas prices lowest in more than 12 years.

Lastly, last year while Trump was aiding victims of Louisiana flooding, Obama was making shady deals with Iranian Mullahs and working against Israel and no one seemed to bat an eye. There is really no one worse the U.S. should be flirting with politically and giving billions of dollars to., and these deals are already having to be re-negotiated and eventually nullified for the sake of U.S. security interests.

LostInParadise's avatar

You are attributing to Trump many things that have nothing to do with him. Might as well blame the historic California wildfires on him. So far there has been no legislation on any of the things that Trump promised – no health care legislation, no infrastructure agenda or anything else he promised.

If the U.S. backs out of the deal with Iran, it will be disastrous. Either Iran will resume making nuclear weapons or Iran will work with the other nations that signed the treaty and ignore the U.S. Europe will get the trade benefits and U.S. companies will be shut out.

flutherother's avatar

@Yellowdog You won’t get far on this or any other site by criticising its users. Personal attacks aren’t acceptable.

Trump has only the most superficial grasp of the issues facing the United States and this is clearly seen in his latest comments on the Iran deal. This is the sort of deal Trump has been trying to get North Korea to agree to and which could serve as a model for other countries in future. Being as charitable as I can to Trump I can see no sense whatever in going back on it.

ragingloli's avatar

Drumpf’s handling and dismissal of agreed upon deals and treaties just shows that the colonies are not reliable partners.
Countries like North Korea now have no reason to negotiate with Drumpf, because they now KNOW that he will not honour agreements.

Darth_Algar's avatar

@Yellowdog

Just out of curiosity, what site did you copy-paste that from?

And most of those “accomplishments” aren’t accomplishments at all. They’re ether routine shit that anyone in the office of president would be doing, they’re dubious “accomplishments” or they’re things that are results of Obama’s policies.

So far Trump has yet to pass a single piece of legislation, despite having a majority in both chambers of Congress. He’s alienated long-standing allies, shown the world that the United States can no longer be trusted, and greatly diminished our standing in the world.

And yes, we know how welcomed he was in places like Saudi Arabia. So congratulations, I guess, to him for meeting no protest in a country where protest is illegal and punishable by imprisonment or death.

NomoreY_A's avatar

Give the Prez a break – I mean it’s been awile since he had a prostitute pee on him, he’s under a lot of stress.

kritiper's avatar

@ragingloli “Countries like North Korea now have no reason to negotiate with Drumpf, because they now KNOW that he will not honor agreements.”
Well if that isn’t the pot calling the kettle black!

filmfann's avatar

@Yellowdog. Man, did you drink the kool-aid!
My comment about Trump’s friends refers to Rex Tillerson, who called Trump a fucking moron
Regarding your comments, which I will only partially address:
Our current economic success is due to President Obama. The unemployment rates, stock market, and home ownership numbers are better because of the capable leadership of Obama.
Trump goes to foreign countries and insults them.
Trump visits disaster sights and treats them as campaign rallies.
He spends more time on the golf course than the amount he complained about from Obama. He promised he wouldn’t have time to go golfing as president.
He has spent many weekends at his different hotels, causing the secret service to rent rooms from him, essentially padding his own pocket.
He has withdrawn from the climate change accords, endangering the future of the planet, and the children that will inherit it.
His campaign has been shown to be riddled with people compromised by the Russians. He has brought Russians into the White House, and given them State secrets.
His own words detailing his groping of women was supported by many women, who he the called liars.
You said he brought back American jobs. By example, he has hired foreigners for his hotel workers, and manufactured his products overseas, often in China.
I could go on, but what’s the point? You’ve stopped listening.

MrGrimm888's avatar

@Yellowdog is a classic Trump supporter. I respect him, but he is lost. His eyes are shut so hard to reality, he will never see. This is the problem with Trumpers. They are, unfortunately, a lost cause. I have given up trying to use logic, and hard facts on his type long ago. The rest of you would be wise to stop wasting your time…

Yellowdog's avatar

Looks like Obama’s policies will continue to make America great and improve our economy, deregulation of business regulations thanks to Obama, the keystone pipeline, etc etc. will continue to prosper America for the next eight years or at least until Trump is assassinated or impeached. Yay Obama.

Darth Algar: the list was cut and pasted from a Sean Hannity website I think,

Yellowdog's avatar

Filmfann: Trump never said he wanted to increase the nuclear arsenal tenfold, as reported by several networks, beginning with a fake story by NBC which was called out but not retracted. And Rex Tillerson denied calling Trump a “fucking Moron” or any other kind of moron. After listening to him I don’t see how that could be true.

If the persons who are the subjects of the news stories quickly and vehemently deny having said what the stories alleged, why would they lie about it?

It is better to hear what people say directly and understand their position rather than rely on NBC News, Slate, The Huffington Post, etc. who are not even close to understanding the position of Trump and his support base—or Rex Tillerson either, for that matter..

flutherother's avatar

@Yellowdog Tillerson has never directly denied making the “moron” remark. If this was “fake news” as Trump says don’t you think he would have gone on record to deny it unequivocally?

stanleybmanly's avatar

I don’t believe anyone seriously doubts that Tillerson called Trump a fkn moron. When questioned on it, Tillerson, who (unlike his boss) clearly understands the implications around a deliberate and easily refutable lie, refused to say “No”. Instead we get “I’m not going to discuss anything so petty.” And therein lies the problem for those conservatives capable of abstract thought; for the simple truth is that their champion is a man obsessed and defined by matters so petty and unworthy of his office that his prolific exhibition of breathtaking flaws of character suffocate any and all other concerns. Nothing gets done in the face of the never ending requirement of all about him to “goldplate the turd”. The brighter bulbs in the conservative movement (Tillerson among them) recognize the sheer impossibility in conceding any semblance of competence to an individual so noisily dedicated to undermining any and all such illusions. Trump
is so visibly defective that his aberrations supercede ideology. The very witnessing of him in action leaves no wiggle room and marks any and all of his defenders. To defend him marks you as either another moron incapable of discerning the visibly obvious, or just plain intellectually dishonest. For the bottom line is there is no defense.

Darth_Algar's avatar

@Yellowdog “the list was cut and pasted from a Sean Hannity website”

Your first mistake is listening to sycophantic halfwits like Hannity to begin with.

“And Rex Tillerson denied calling Trump a “fucking Moron” or any other kind of moron.”

Wrong. He never acknowledged nor denied calling Trump a moron (fucking or otherwise). He danced around the question like a ballerina.

Brian1946's avatar

@Yellowdog

If Tillerson didn’t call Popular Vote Loser a moron, why did PVLOTUS challenge Tillerson to an IQ test?

Aster's avatar

@Brian1946 Trump was bluffing. In no way would it be appropriate (or smart) to challenge anyone on earth to an IQ test while being the President.

Dutchess_III's avatar

Especially when you’re bound to lose to any 3th grade challengers.

ragingloli's avatar

The thing with dumb people is that they do not know that they are dumb.
So I doubt that Trump was bluffing. He really thinks he would win.

Darth_Algar's avatar

“I have a very good brain.”

Dutchess_III's avatar

My two year old Grandson is clever. The last few times he’s been here I’ve watched him examine the slide lock on the gate on our back deck and experiment. On Saturday he figured it out and can now unlock it from a full lock position which includes pushing the gate slightly to allow the lock to slide easily. :( :/
Trump can’t figure out how to flush a toilet. Of course he doesn’t have to. He just has the hotel staff change the sheets.

babaji's avatar

There are many words I would use to describe Him, but that is not one of them.
