Have any of you been to a "movie in the park"?

We took the grandkids to a movie last night at our city park. Almost like the old drive in movies except that you walk in. And bring your own lawnchairs and snacks.

Pretty decent, it was free and you don’t have to pay a concession stand. We bought a pizza and brought it with us including our own cokes and popcorn.

No.
And I never would.
I prefer to have a roof over my head, comfortable seats to sit in for 2 hours and more, to have good acoustics without sound pollution from the outside, and to not be pestered by wildlife.
I can only imagine this to be an absolutely dreadful experience.

I’ve been to movies on the beach – similar concept.

A fun experience actually. And inexpensive entertainment

It sounds like a nice time on the face of it, until I remember that it’s 85 degrees outside at night with 90% humidity, the mosquitoes are bloodthirsty beasts, and my version of hell is literally me in a full movie theatre, and they don’t even provide food.

I can watch old movies in my house for free, without the bugs or the humans, and they let me have beer there.

Yes, and it’s fun! These kinds of events are usually old movies that everyone knows, and no one cares if someone else is talking or moving around. Plus, you get to eat a picnic!

And if the kids get antsy they can get up and move around without people getting bent out of shape..

Yes, our city parks have screenings all summer. I went to a couple. It’s nice low-key fun. There’s a mix of new and new-ish movies and older ones, too. Most are kid-friendly movies, so it’s a cheap night out for families.

I only like seeing light hearted comedies or animated films this way. My city park played Citizen Kane last year and I gladly passed on that and got to see it at a regular movie theater 3 months ago

I’d pass on Citizen Kane indoors, outdoors, or anywhere. Not big on artsy films. Never cared for Orson Wells anyway.

I wouldn’t say Citizen Kane is all that artsy, it’s a rather broad drama with great cinematography

I might get an opportunity to see it someday. Right now, it would have to feature Spongebob and Squidward for me to get a shot at seeing it.

Yes. The movies are usually kid oriented though.

Wednesday I’m planning to go to a free concert in the park.
